Create Your Work Site

1. Log into bsd220.org

2. Create a new Site

3. Click Create

Choose the blank template, then click Create.

How to Use Navigation1. Your page titles will automatically display alphabetically in your navigation2. You could edit the navigation, but it’s easier to just go with the default of alphabetical order.

How to Apply a Theme1. More -->Manage Site2. Themes (bottom-left)3. Note: Don’t spend too much time here; you can always change to a different theme later.

4. Select a theme, preview, then save

5. To return to your site, click the <(your site name) link at the top-left.

How to Create PDF FilesPDF files can be viewed by site visitors who don’t have MS Office 2010. To create a PDF file

How to Turn Screenshots into JPGs (image files)Screenshots can be saved as images (.jpg files), which can then be inserted onto the main section of your webpage. Follow these steps to create a jpg of your screen:

Take the screenshot1. Display the file (sometimes it looks better in Print Preview)2. Press the Print Screen button (just right of the backspace key)

Paste the screenshot into PowerPoint1. Open PowerPoint2. If necessary, create a new slide3. Set the layout of the new slide to Blank

3. Paste (your screenshot will be pasted)4. Crop your screenshot:5. In the Picture Tools, Format Tab, click the Crop button.6. Using the Crop mouse pointer, drag in the sides or corners.

7. When done, click off the image

Save the Screenshot as a .jpg file.1. In PowerPoint, right click on the image, and choose Save as a Picture.

2. Save as a .jpg, using the file name in the portfolio instructions.
