Basic computer level with an introduction to Internet & Email
Starting the end of September 2016.
One morning a week for 5 weeks
Content: starting the computer, saving documents, opening documents, a
little typing, how to access the internet and use an email address.
Location: Computer Room - CDP Resource Centre
Word Processing Level 3 QQI 3N0588:
Starting September 2016.
Content: Learn about word processing
applications, the terminology associated with
them, their functions and features. Develop
the skills and knowledge to support the
practical use of a word processing application
to create documents and enhance the appearance of the documents
produced.
Open to adults who are unemployed or on a social welfare payment.
Location: Computer Room - CDP Resource Centre
Using Common Computer Applications Level 4 QQI 4N1112
Starting September 2016.
Content: Learn about spreadsheets, database and publisher applications, the
terminology associated with them, their functions and features. This is
assessment based.
Open to adults who are unemployed or on a social welfare payment.
Location: Computer Room - CDP Resource Centre

NEW ECDL—version 6: Key Features:
You can complete one or both modules.
The course will be held on a Friday morning, 9am to 1pm.
Full ECDL certificate awarded after the successful completion of 7 modules, no time
limit for the completion of these modules.
To be eligible for places, you must be unemployed or on a social welfare payment.
Online Collaboration: This module sets out concepts and skills relating to the setup and use of online collaborative
tools, such as storage, productivity applications, calendars, social media, web meetings,
earning environments, and mobile technology.
Understand the key concepts relating to online collaboration and cloud computing.
Set up accounts to prepare for online collaboration.
Use online storage and web-based productivity applications to collaborate.
Use online and mobile calendars to manage and plan activities.
Collaborate and interact using social networks, blogs, and wikis.
Schedule and host online meetings and use online learning environments.
Understand key mobile technology concepts and use features such as e-mail, applications,
and synchronisation.
Word: Work with documents and save them in different file formats.
Choose built-in options such as the Help function to enhance productivity.
Create and edit small-sized word processing documents that will be ready to share and
distribute.
Apply different formats to documents to enhance them before distribution and recognize
good practice in choosing the appropriate formatting options.
Insert tables, images and drawn objects into documents.
Prepare documents for mail merge operations.
Adjust document page settings and check and correct spelling before finally printing
documents.
General information on computer courses. Courses open to adults living in the Mayfield community.
Course contribution is small.
Computer courses are organised throughout the year (October to December & January to
June of each year)

Occupational First Aid FETAC Level 5 Award
(5N1207)
This Course is for anyone who wants to be trained and certified as an Occupational
First Aider and deliver First Aid care according to the protocols taught in the
Course.
To be eligible people must live in the Mayfield community
&
in receipt of Unemployment/Social Welfare Benefit
Proposed Start Date: November 2016
CDP Resource Centre, 328, Old Youghal Rd., Mayfield.
This Course will provide the learner with the knowledge & practical skills to give effective life support
diagnose and treat injuries or illness, maintain care and comfort of the casualty and an understanding
required to provide and coordinate first aid in the workplace.
Areas covered:
1. First Aid in the Workplace.
2. Patient Assessment.
3. Respiratory Emergencies.
4. Cardiac First Response.
5. Wounds & Bleeding.
6. Altered Levels of Consciousness.
7. Musclosketal Injuries.
8. Burns, Scalds, Chemicals & Electrical Shock.
€20 (reduced fee) for people who are unemployed . €40 for all others
This covers the cost of certification and materials.
Full attendance & completion of exam is required.

Introduction to Mindfulness Techniques A Mindfulness course of Holistic Healing and wellness, drawing on simple practices
to enhance wellbeing in Body, Mind and Spirit by using simple self -healing
techniques - Meditation, movement and Balancing personal Energy. The use of
these healing skills can empower us to live with peace and wellbeing, no matter
what is happening around us.

Mayfield Ciorcal Comhrá is an adult conversation
group for those who wish to improve their spoken
Irish. Sessions begin on Tuesday 6th September in
Mayfield CDP Resource Centre from 2.30pm to 4pm.
Participants give €2 per session. The sessions are at
an intermediate level of Irish con-
versation.

Parking:
Parking on the premises is for staff only. All other users of the centre and the childcare
are asked to park elsewhere and walk to the centre. One disability place is available.

staff & Tús Placement worker.

newsletter, fundraising and some small grant allocations.

Mayfield Community Garden
The Community Garden Project continues to thrive at the rear of the Mayfield
CDP premises at 328, Old Youghal Road, Mayfield, Cork. A group of local people
call in during the week to tend to the garden and its produce.
Since the polytunnel has been in the garden, the growing capacity of the gardening
group has been enhanced. It has extended the growing season and enabled the
group grow their own produce from seed. You can find tomatoes to strawberries,
beetroot to cucumber happily growing in the glorious warmth of the tunnel.
The Gardening group are always looking for new members to join
them to work in the garden and enjoy the company of others and
learn new skills. You don’t need to have any gardening knowledge or
skills to join, just time and a willingness to be part of the project.
