What does being ‘a contractor’ with GCC mean?

GCC operate across mainland UK. Our sales team secure cleaning contracts with prospective clients. In order to fulfil these contracts we will offer them to our local contractors to carry out the service. All contractors are self-employed, (not employees), who are looking to start their own business or develop an existing one.

We do this because many of the clients who choose GCC like the contractor model we offer, as they believe that the service will be more reliable and completed more professionally by people who have a vested interest in doing a great job. We have found this to be the case, and today we have over 2,000 clients and over 700 contractors working in partnership with us.

How the contractor model works

professionally and safely.

Once you are fully trained, the next steps would be:

aYour local AM will discuss with you any opportunities in your area.

aYou will be shown around these opportunities and told what is required.

aShould you be interested in servicing one of these opportunities (and the choice to do so is entirely yours) then you would sign a contract with us and pay a Finder’s Fee.

aWe retain 20% of what the client is charged - the management charge. Plus a monthly £10 administrative charge.

aThe Finder’s Fee can be paid outright (debit/credit card or cash) or through an increased management charge.

aWe would invoice the clients monthly, on your behalf, for the work done.

aWe will pay you monthly, in arrears, by bank transfer, even if the client has not paid their bill.

aWe cover you for accidental damage up to £2m.

aWe will help you cover any holidays and sickness periods when you can’t make it.

aWe will keep in touch with the clients and let you know immediately if they have any concerns with the contract.

aYou will have the ongoing support of our Head Office based Customer Service Helpdesk (you will have a dedicated contact).

aYou will have local support and additional on-site training from your local Area Manager.

aYour investment in the contract will be covered by a 12 month guarantee in the event of the client moving premises, ceasing to trade or becoming insolvent.

aYou are able to resell the contract and will receive a % of the original Finder’s Fee.

Industry accreditations and memberships

The staff at GCC go to great lengths to make sure that the company is the best that it can be for customers and staff.

One of the ways we do this is by working to achieve industry accreditations and memberships. To achieve these, GCC have had

to demonstrate that the required criteria is in place and that we are committed to constantly managing and updating these.

Below is a brief overview of the ones that are most relevant to our contractors. A full listing is on our website www.gccfm.com.

OHSAS 18001 – Occupational Health & Safety is a certifi ed health and safety system that recognises our duty of care towards our employees and any others who may be affected by our activities. In doing so, also implement procedures to comply with all legal requirements, including identifying and eliminating risks to health and safety.

Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.

ContractorPlus provides clients with a robust contractor health and safety pre-qualifi cation system. They check contractor’s health and safety documentation including risk assessments, policies, method statements, insurance levels, etc.
