UKS is Science, Medical Care and University Teaching

The „green campus“ of our University Medical Center covers 3 square kilometres and two thirds (more than a square mile) are forest and recreational areas. The campus hosts more than 30 clinics and 20 institutes. We provide 1,297 hospital beds incl. 82 inpatient beds, 203 intensive care beds and deliver medical care and expertise to more than 50,000 inpatients and 200,000 outpatients (2016). Each year we perform more than 40,000 surgical procedures. The Saarland University Medical Center employs around 5,000 staff members in the medical, nursing, research and administration sectors. In 2018 our medical center scored 26th place in comparison to 2000 clinics in Germany.

How to find us

Parking

is available at the main entrance of the university hospital campus (Parkhaus). A free bus service operating within the hospital campus from 7 am until 4 pm departs every fifteen minutes. Each of the following departments has a visitor parking area with parking fees: Internal Medicine II, Eye Clinic, Gynaecology, Paedia-tric Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Nuclear Medicine, and Forensic Medicine.

travelling by car

From Mannheim or SaarbrückenLeave the A6 motorway at the Homburg exit and drive towards Homburg, following the signs to the university hospital („Kliniken“ or „Universitätskliniken“).

From Trier or KoblenzTake the A8 motorway as far as the Neunkirchen/Saar intersection (Autobahnkreuz Neunkirchen/Saar), where you take the A6 and drive towards Mannheim leaving at the Homburg/Saar exit. Further directions as above.

From Karlsruhe/PirmasensTake the B10 to Pirmasens, then the A8 motorway, leave the A8 at the Einöd exit and continue on B423 towards Homburg, following the signs to the university hospital („Kliniken“ or „Universitätsklini-ken“).
