Permits pertaining to Manufactured Homes are under the jurisdiction of Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (509) 454-3760. Yakima County has adopted the various *International Codes which are updated every three years. (Please contact our office to verify which code cycle is applicable to your project). International Building Code (IBC 101.3—Intent) The purpose of the codes are to establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress, facilities, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment and to provide safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.. To apply for your permit, please provide: 1. General Application for Construction (Building Permit). 2. Floor plan showing room uses, location of mechanical equipment (include plumbing fixtures if applicable). 3. Equipment schedule: How many and what type of equipment will be installed. Fuel source (Electric, *Natural Gas, *LPG Gas). Size of equipment (Specify: horsepower, ton, Btu, cfm) *LPG gas equipment or appliance may require an additional permit for a propane tank. Before issuance of your mechanical permit, a Fire Code Permit is required for the tank. If you have an existing tank, please provide your permit number to confirm that a permit has been issued and a final approved inspection was completed, otherwise, a new permit for the tank is required. Both permits can be issued simultaneously. The equipment and appliances shall be installed according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions and shall be made available to the inspector at the time of your inspection. Q: When is a Mechanical Permit Required?

A: Permits are required prior to installation of mechanical equipment or appliance whether it is new, replacement, relocated, alteration, or change-out. Other permits may be required depending on the scope of work for your project.

Q: What information do I need to apply for a mechanical permit?

Q: Can I turn in an incomplete application?

A: No. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Due to the high volume of applications received by this Department, incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

A: Customers may obtain a mechanical permit at the Yakima County Public Services Department, Building and Fire Safety Division.

A tax parcel number is required for all permits that are applied for at Yakima County Building & Fire Safety Division. The tax parcel number consists of the Range, Township and Section number along with the 5 digits pertaining to your individual parcel. (example: 23 12 05-12345; Total 11 digits)

Your parcel number can be found several ways. It is on your deed, tax statement or receipt, and also can be found on the Yakima County Website and yakimap.com/

~Job site address: If an address has not been assigned, describe the location of structure.

~Project Description Describe the proposed work for your project.

~Property Owner information This can be completed by the owner or agent of the owner. (Only 1 signature is required; typically by the person applying which can be Owner, Agent, Contractor, etc.). ~Name, address and phone number ~As applicable include Applicant, Contractor (and license information), Agent, etc.

~Check 1 box of the main contact person

~Floor plan Floor plan of the structure - Provide (and label) fixture and equipment locations. For Remodel, Change out, Alterations, show existing floor plan and proposed floor plan as applicable to your project.

~ Mechanical Equipment Checklist Complete the owner and address information.

Specify how many of each type of equipment and the size (include BTU, Ton, CFM, or Horsepower).

If the equipment is not listed, please write in the equipment as indicated at the bottom of the checklist.
