As a leading event on the international regatta calendar, Cork Week 2012 builds onover 30 years of experience in organising sailing events “run by sailors, for sailors”.

The difficult international economic conditions pose challenges for us all. For CorkWeek 2012 we are setting out to provide those who visit us with a sailing experiencegiving both value for money and memorable competition on the water.

1 RULES1.1 Racing will be governed by the ‘Rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of

Sailing 2009 – 2012 (RRS) with Irish Sailing Association (ISA) Prescriptions and the

following, as appropriate:

The 2012 Rules of the IRC.

Class Rules for One Design including their crew limits (if any).

1.2 Where there is a conflict with the Notice of Race, the sailing instructions shall prevail

except that neither shall change nor alter a class rule.

2 ADVERTISINGBoats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing

Authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY3.1 The Regatta is open to all boats with a valid IRC certificate plus various One Design

classes.

3.2 All IRC boats shall comply with the ISAF Special Regulations Governing Offshore

Racing for Category 4 races, except that any boats that do not comply fully with the

requirements may apply to the organising Authority for written dispensation.

3.3 Sports Boat’s & One Designs shall comply with the ISAF Special Regulations

Governing Offshore Racing for Category 5 races, except for any boats that do not

comply fully with the requirements may apply to the Organising Authority for written

dispensation.

3.4 IRC Classes 0 – 6 must have endorsed IRC certificates.

White Sail Classes, (for those who wish to race without a cruising chute,spinnaker or gennaker) may race with unendorsed valid IRC certificate.

3.5 IRC Crew Limitation (Rule 27.4.3) will not apply.

3.6 Eligible boats may enter the Regatta by completing the attached Entry Form and fax or

post entry forms to Cork Week 2012, Royal Cork Yacht Club Crosshaven Co Cork, by

April 1st 2012.

5 SCHEDULE5.1 Registration:

Competitors must register at the Regatta Race office from 10:30hrs on Saturday July

5.2 Boats that fail to complete their Registration shall be scored DSQ, without a hearing.

This amends RRS 63.1.

5.3 Dates of racing:

The warning signal of the first race of each day will be at 10:55hrs. Racing will be held

from Monday 9th of July to Friday 13th of July.

5.4 Number of races:There will be two races scheduled per day for each class except where a class is

scheduled to do the Harbour Course or the Coastal Race, if applicable, where there

will only be one race scheduled for that class on that day.

6 MEASUREMENTS6.1 Each boat shall produce a valid applicable rating certificate.

6.2 Changes to the rating of a boat other than upwards will not be allowed after 17:00 hrs

on Monday July 2nd 2012 unless the rating change is:

a. Due to an error made by RORC or UNCL. In such a case, the rating shall be

corrected for all races.

b. The result of a rating protest, when RRS 64.3 will apply together with the rules

applicable to that rating system.

c At the discretion of RORC and UNCL as appropriate. Downward changes will

generally only be permitted following, measurements for endorsement required by

either the RORC or UNCL.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONSThe sailing instructions will be available after June 21st 2012 from the Cork Week Race

Office and will be posted online.

8 VENUE8.1. Racing will take place in Cork Harbour and its surrounding waters. Refer Admiralty

charts 1777 and 1765.

9 THE COURSESA variety of different courses will be sailed during the regatta including but not limitedto Windward/Leeward, Olympic, Coastal, Trapezoid, Slalom and Harbour Courses.

10 PENALTY SYSTEM10.3 Decisions of the protest committee jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5. (B)

11 SCORING11.1 The Bonus Point System of Appendix A will apply.

11.2 2 Races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

11.3 (a) When fewer than 6 races have been completed a boat’s series score will be thetotal of her race scores.

(b) When from 7 to 10 races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the

total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

12 BERTHINGBoats shall be kept in their assigned places in the harbour.

Complimentary event related berthing.

13 HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONSKeelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the

terms of prior written permission of the race committee.

14 RADIO COMMUNICATIONExcept in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor

receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to

mobile telephones.

15 PRIZESDaily prizes will be awarded to all classes.

Overall class prizes/trophies will be awarded to each class.

A Prix d’elegance Prize will be awarded

A Boat of the Week Prize will be awarded.

16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITYCompetitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to

Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or

personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the

regatta.

17 INSURANCEIt is the duty of each boat owner to have his boat adequately insured against any risk,

including civil responsibility to third parties and to ensure that such insurance remains

valid for the entirety of Cork Week 2012.

18 MEDIA WAIVERCompetitors give their consent to the Royal Cork Yacht Club , its sponsors, and

the organising authority to use their name, comments, photograph and

likeness in order to promote the Cork Week Regatta
