LESSON PLAN/ACTIVITIES• Introduce oboe, English horn and woodwind family

• Strings can be introduced

• Show pictures of the instruments and play some of the piece so students can identify the “duck” (oboe/English horn) in the music.

• Strings represent flowing water. During the sections with the strings have students move with scarves or any flowing material (i.e. ribbons or parachute/sheet) for all to make water flow together.

• Use a duck puppet/finger puppet or yellow/orange scarf or yarn ball to rep-resent the duck. Show duck or have duck swim with the water when students hear the sounds of the oboe and/or English horn.
