Air transport is increasingly important to the economy of cities such as Aberdeen.

Look at Aberdeen airport on the map.

Using map evidence, describe the advantages and disadvantages of the site of Aberdeen airport.

Industrial location factors:Industrial location factors:

P - power T - transport

L - labour force G - Government aid

There are many advantages to this site. There is flat land to build on and room for expansion to the north (2). Also the aircraft taking off and landing to the north don’t go over many houses (1). The size of the city provides a good market for the airport (1). There are good transport links for the airport such as A96(T) dual carriageway in to the city (1) and the railway links from Dyce (1).The disadvantages are that the flightpath does go over some housing which creates noise and air pollution (1). Also expansion is difficult to both the east and west (1).
