Mirage Manufacturing Chooses Xantrex for Reliable Performance For more than 45 years, family-owned Mi- rage Manufacturing has continued to build innovative custom boats at the same loca- tion, with the same phone number and the same owners. During this time, founder Ken Fickett and his wife Becky have weathered the storms of the industry and are now joined in the business by their two adult chil- dren, Travis and Jessica. Mirage has remained successful through a focus on applying the best technology into user-friendly, high value products. Sticking to that formula has allowed them to shift within the industry from a leading manufac- turer of high performance sailboats to ultra- efficient, high-performance sportfishing boats and some of the most ruggedly-built pleasure trawlers ever produced. A game-changer Since the inception of the Great Harbour Trawler line, Mirage has remained commit- ted to an all-electric galley fitted with full- sized home-style appliances. In years past, such conveniences would have required cruisers to start the genset before being able to cook on the range or in the oven. The Mirage Great Harbour Design Team solved the problem with the addition of Xantrex Freedom SW 3000 inverters to the boat’s power system, taking advantage of the ca- pability to series stack and supply extremely clean 240-volt power. “The ability to pair the Freedom SW invert- ers and supply 240 volts to a live-aboard vessel has been a game-changer in achiev- ing silent power and dramatically minimizing generator run times,” says Ken Fickett. “The paired SW inverters negates much of the requirement for generator use, and when batteries do need to be charged, the dual inverters provide the necessary amperage for recharging modern large battery banks with nearly 300 amps of clean, smart 12-volt charging current.” When it comes to electri- cal systems, the Mirage Design Team speci- fies Xantrex for all of its inverter needs. Mirage TT35 The newest Mirage offering, the TT35, pre- sented unique challenges in power genera- tion. This is a super-lightweight, trailerable trawler in which every pound saved would prove critical to achieving performance goals. There was no option of installing an oversize generator with a maximum output that would only be called upon for momen- tary starting loads of equipment such as the air conditioning. The answer is the Xantrex SW 3000. This unit can handle the starting loads with its Gen Support feature, which engages when AC loads exceed the generator’s capac- ity. The Gen Support feature significantly reduces the genset ampacity requirement, and allows for the use of a smaller genset. In addition to realizing significant weight sav- ings, the cost savings of being able to install a smaller genset actually pays for the Xan- trex! Mirage has always focused on ease of use for the end consumer, which makes the ability to control all functions of the Xantrex system from a clear, concisely-configured user panel icing on the cake. Xantrex products are UL-approved, and meeting and exceeding that standard is aided by the company’s H.A.L.T. (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) chamber. The H.A.L.T. chamber is used to subject Xantrex products to severe thermal and mechanical conditions, and to identify any problems or design issues early on in product develop- ment. The H.A.L.T. chamber is part of North America’s largest and most sophisticated privately owned inverter testing lab which is owned by Xantrex’s parent Schneider Elec- tric. All products are tested to the strictest standards to ensure they perform in harsh conditions and meet customer demands. The Xantrex lineup includes power invert- ers, inverter/chargers, battery chargers, power accessories and backup power. They are used over a wide range of applications, from RVs, boats, buses and trucks to min- ing, military, ambulance and fire trucks. This diversity of use means that Xantrex’s staff, dealers and customers must stay current on product knowledge and usage. The installation of technically advanced products, such as an inverter/charger, may be a challenge for the service/parts depart- ment, due to the complexity of the unit. Deal- ers can find out if their staff is up to date on the latest installation procedures and regu- latory standards by consulting Xantrex. Hassle-free warranty policy Xantrex’s new “Destroy in Field” policy enables dealers to immediately take care of the end customer with any warranty is- sue without prior consultation with Xantrex/ Schneider Electric. This new policy has in- creased the speed of handling warranty claims and is also cost effective. Most Xantrex products are part of this new policy. However, there are a few excep- tions. If dealers have the product in stock to replace the failed product under warranty, the goal is to waste no time in offering re- placement to customers to get them back up and running right away. Warranty fulfilment for boat builders is also extremely easy and flexible. Authorized Service Center network Xantrex supports its dealers through a vast network of Authorized Service Centers (ASCs ) located strategically so that each region of the U.S. is covered. These dedi- cated professionals are trained to repair out-of-warranty and non-warrantable prod- ucts and they also stock replacement parts and components. History of innovation Xantrex engineering is credited for the design of several category-defining prod- ucts: the Freedom SW series, true sine wave version of the popular Freedom Marine; the PROsine series, the original true sine wave solution, and the TRUECharge2. These products have and continue to set the stan- dard for battery maintenance in an extreme- ly lightweight, compact footprint. Earlier this year, Xantrex added the Free- dom Xi and Freedom HFS true sine wave products. The Freedom Xi is an inverter whereas the Freedom HFS is an inverter with a built-in charger. The Freedom platform has been installed in over 300,000 boats, RVs and trucks in the past few years. It is ex- tremely popular because of its form factor, cost and performance. About Xantrex Based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, Xantrex was founded in 1983. It has acquired technology-pioneering com- panies such as Heart, Trace and Statpower to become a leading supplier of onboard AC power solutions. Now fully integrated into the $40 billion French conglomerate Schneider Electric, Xantrex has been manu- facturing quality advanced power electronic products for the RV, marine, military, con- struction, EMS, bus, work service vehicle and commercial truck markets for more than 30 years. Industry-Leading Product Safety and Quality Standards

Building safe and reliable marine prod-ucts starts with stringent quality-control pro-cedures in design and at the manufacturing level.
