Middle School Career & Technical Education Courses The following is a list of career and technical education courses that are offered to students in grades 6-8th at the middle schools. The PLTW courses introduce students to STEM concepts, principles and careers.

Medical Detectives (2018-2019)

Project Lead The Way Project Lead The Way (PTLW) is a national curriculum model that introduces students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) concepts through “hands-on” and project based learning experiences. Students in 6th grade will be introduced to the STEM curriculum through a six week Flight & Space Course. Students in 7th & 8th grade will learn more about the design process in the Design & Modeling course and robotics in the Automation & Robotics Course. As an elective, 7th & 8th grade students may also choose to take Medical Detectives, which is designed to introduce students to concept relating to forensic science.

Career Development

Students will have opportunities to explore a wide variety of ca-reers within each of the middle school CTE courses. Students will also participate in work and career related experiences including field trips, career events and presentations by local businesses and industry. Students in 8th grade will develop a career plan and will have and learn more about different work-place environments through a Job Shadow activity.
