Company Visited 1: Pony Needle Industry - Needle Industries (India) Private Limited

Company Location: Ketti post office, The nilgiris, tamil nadu 643 215,India,

The corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities of Needle Industries (India)

Private Limited are located in the Nilgiri mountains, 2,200 metres above sea level, in

Southern India.

The Company was incorporated in 1949 as a subsidiary of a major British manufacturer of

hand sewing needles, knitting pins and other hard haberdashery products. Manufacture

commenced with the very simple gramophone needle.

Over the years, the tiny company managed not only to survive, but to grow through its own

resources into what it is today — the prime global source of hand sewing needles, knitting

pins and allied products.

The packaging has been painstakingly developed in keeping with the company's

commitment to the preservation of the environment. The simplicity of design allows easy

access to the product. The absence of adhesives, staples or other residual materials ensures

the packing materials are always separate thus encouraging their recyclable disposal. The

striking sunrise, depicted on our packaging, underlines the Company's dedication to offer

only the best through ongoing development and continuous improvement.

Company Visited 2: Doddabeta Tea Factory

Company Location: Holmwood, Nankem Hospital Premises, Coonoor, The Nilgiris, Tamil

Nadu

Doddabetta peak is the highest known peak in the region of Ooty and its altitude stays to be

more than 2,623 meters in height. It actually stays in the suburbs of Ooty and is hardly 10

kms from the place. The Tea Factory which cater the life of the people and provide livelihood

to a wide number of people earning their bread from the meagre income they avail by

working in tea factory.

Tea factory is well equipped and produce tea of different qualities and focus on a large

international market. The whole process of manufacturing the tea is well optimized and is

highly grounded up with well planned process so as to produce highly edible and good

quality tea to be sold in the market place. The taste of the fresh, just made tea is so fine that

one should taste it once to have that essence of freshness. It would surely be a wonderful

experience.

They also have an adjacent chocolate factory in similar lines. And they are in the process of

creating a view point inside their premises. Couple of years later, people would throng that

place just like Doddabeta and the tea and chocolate factories would most of their sales

directly to the tourists.

Company Visited 3: The Bangalore Milk Union Ltd., (BAMUL) is a unit of Karnataka

Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Limited (KMF)

The Bangalore Milk Union Ltd., (BAMUL) is a unit of Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers

Federation Limited (KMF) which is the Apex Body in Karnataka representing Dairy Farmers

Co-operatives. It is the second largest dairy co-operative amongst the dairy cooperatives in

the country. In South India it stands first in terms of procurement as well as sales. The Brand

"nandini" is the household name for Pure and Fresh milk and milk products.

Students‎have‎seen‎live‎production‎&‎Packaging‎of‎‎Curd‎&‎Milk‎“nandini”,‎The Unions daily

average milk procurement is 9.40 lakh Kgs, which works out to be 510 kgs per day per DCS.

Bamul has SEVEN Chilling Centers geographically located around Bangalore and 85 Bulk

Milk Coolers at DCS Level.

The milk shed area of Bamul comprises of 2611 revenue villages. As of now the Union has

organized 1868 Dairy Co-operatives Societies (DCS) in 2425 villages, there by covering 87%

of the total village in these two districts.

Bamul has been certified for ISO 22000:2005 & ISO 9001-2000 for quality management and

Food Safety Systems. The National Productivity Council (NPC) of Government of India has

conferred "Best Productivity Award" for FIVE TIMES
