This 4‐H credit gives member‐student’s the opportunity to apply curriculum previously learned in the classroom and to go above and beyond what is offered in your traditional classes. While you pursue your individual interests and talents, you will enhance your creative and critical thinking, foster your problem‐solving skills, and hone the independent study and research competencies needed to be an effective self‐directed learner. Member-Students may sign up for this credit in grade 10, 11 or 12; the timeline is flexible. It is recommended that member-students aim to complete by April of their grade 12 year. An introduction to how simple machines make work easier for us. ROCKETRY Blast into this project as you discover the principals of model rocketry including rocket construction, science and flight. SMALL ENGINES Get your gears going with hands-on learning. You’ll explore how an engine works, the parts of an engine, cleaning, maintenance and trouble- shooting. If you are interested in mechanics, agriculture, ATVs and other sport machines, this is for you! Small Engines 1 and 2 available. WOODWORKING Learn all about woodworking in three different units. Starting off at the basics, you’ll learn to use hand tools and sand and finish. By the end of the third unit you’ll be using power tools and making wood joints. You’ll build useful items and have a great time doing it! In Woodworking 1, build your very own gum ball machine; in Woodworking 2, send the shelf you build to exibitions, and in Woodworking 3, make a stool! GARDENINGThis is the perfect project for the plant enthusiast. You’ll learn an abundance of skills and knowledge related to plant life and gardening. Topics cov-ered include: preparing the soil, summer care, and harvest. Members who sign up for the Garden project by April 15, can receive a seed kit worth up to $25 from Vesseys!

OUTDOOR SERIES- RECREATION This project gives members the opportunity to learn how to build a shelter, a fire, tie knots, first aid, orienteering, and more!

OUTDOORS SERIES - FORESTRY Learn about Island forests, living in the great outdoors, how to identify common PEI trees, and about woodlot management.

OUTDOOR SERIES - WILDLIFE This project provides Island 4-H members with an overview of wildlife on PEI. Most important-ly, the project creates an understanding of the

principles of wildlife management and inspires an appreciation for some of our natural resources.

TIMBERSPORTS Timbersports are competitive sports based on skills traditionally a part of forestry training and work. Race with saws, make water boil, or run with a backtank! Train as a group, then challenge neigh-bouring clubs. BICYCLE Explore the world of cycling! From maintaining and repairing your bike, to going on a big cycling trip, there is lots to learn about biking.
