A. Life as they knew it changed

1. In 1750, most people lived in cottages, lit by candle and used hand tools

2. Made their own clothes and raised their own food

3. The most popular mode of transportation was horse-drawn carriage

4. RURAL Life was prevalent (most known)

B. The Feudal System

1. An economic system of landowning favoring the upper class

2. Kingdoms were developed to keep the king and his people safe

3. The king gave land to his lords, also called barons, in return for services

4. The barons made peasants live on the land and work off the land

5. Peasants could not own land

C. The Agricultural Revolution

Farming remained the same for 11,000 years

By 1750 many farmers were drifting away from hand tools and beginning to use new techniques and machines
