More than 20 structures, built in the 70s and 80s by Stor- ageTek, made up 1.7 million square feet of space that was deconstructed. Upon completion, this site was named the Global Technology and Corporate Learning Center. The deconstruction process took longer than the more traditional demolition meth- ods because it involved recycling building materials as well as looking out for wildlife and some native plants on the property. Deconstruction is a more careful, environmentally friendly way of taking down build- ings and involves salvaging materials for future reuse and recycling. Materials can be donated to nonprofit groups or sold to recyclers. LVI’s scope of abatement work in- cluded asbestos abatement, removal of bulbs and ballasts, salvage, and demolition. With an experienced crew, anticipated obstacles, such as extremely cold weather hampering equipment operation, were expected and accounted for when planning schedules and crews. LVI finished ahead of schedule.

ConocoPhillips turned this 432-acre site into a world class, environmental friendly, research and training facility. More than 20 structures, built in the 70s and 80s by Stor-ageTek, made up 1.7 million square feet of space that was deconstructed. Upon completion, this site was named the Global Technology and Corporate Learning Center.

The deconstruction process took longer than the more traditional demolition meth-ods because it involved recycling building materials as well as looking out for wildlife and some native plants on the property.

Deconstruction is a more careful, environmentally friendly way of taking down build-ings and involves salvaging materials for future reuse and recycling. Materials can be donated to nonprofit groups or sold to recyclers. LVI’s scope of abatement work in-cluded asbestos abatement, removal of bulbs and ballasts, salvage, and demolition. With an experienced crew, anticipated obstacles, such as extremely cold weather hampering equipment operation, were expected and accounted for when planning schedules and crews. LVI finished ahead of schedule.
