    A check list to assure you select the appropriate accessories and consider the operational performance you will require ofyour dock or door.

    Comprehensive working drawings allowing your staff to sign-off on before commencement ofproduction.

    Structurally designed footing details.

    An operations manual including specifications, drawings, spare parts list and recommended servicing information.

    Double your warranty periodAfter successful commissioning ofyour equipment, and normally within a month, youll receive an after-sales service letter containing information on suggested servicing ofyour equipment and details of various Preventative Maintenance Programs available. If you elect to adopt one ofthese Programs Leda will double your warranty period from 12months to 24 months.

    Specification to Commissioning

    SpecificationAt the early stages of any project, Leda can provide advice and engineering documentation, including written specifications for product, and CAD drawings for site plans.

    ServiceService is a critical component to the long-term operation of all Leda equipment. Preventative maintenance programs are available to ensure all products continue to perform reliably and efficiently and it is highly recommended that a service and maintenance agreement be taken out for all automated or mechanically moving products.

    InstallationThe construction industry is learning the benefit of suppliers able to project manage as it is more critical than price. Incompetent sub contractors will end up requiring more management which wipes out any perceived price advantage. Having Leda install ensures that there are noexcuses for poor commissioning.

    The Hydroswing overhead door can be custom built for size, environmental seals and multiple leaves. Providing feature focus or simply solving a problem that no other door system can. Never has anyone been able to lift so much glass with the touch of a button. Hotels and stadiums feature walls that simply open to the outside world. Restaurants, bars, lobby areas, garages for car collections and anything else where there is a desire tomove walls, Hydroswing is the brand new workspace for imaginative and leading edge architects.

    The simplicity of the hydraulic door removes theneed for cables and counter weights used in so many ambitious architectural projects and curved facades. Thedoor can be easily installed to match building profiles, heavy and ornate finishes are lifted with ease with the power of thehydraulic single panel door system.

    Never before have architects and designers had the ability to effortlessly and silently move structure. Use of theHydroswing in architecture is a liberation to the existing limiting factors of Bi fold, sliders and counterbalanced doors.

    The architectural door / wall possibilities are endless... asis our ability to now make your ideas into reality.

    Flush or outside mountingThere are two methods of installation being flush or outside mounting. Flush means the door is essentially installed inside the building. If mounted outside then the mouting frame and door are literally outside on the side of the building. Both pictures illustrate the Franna crane method of manouevering the door into position.

    intro > Hydroswing door Wind ratings

    Hydroswing Door Wind Ratings

    Standard DoorsHydroswing doors are designed to meet relevant wind standards in the closed position Within Australia and NZ the relevant standard is AS/NZS 1170.2:2011. There are areas from A to D with D being the highest due to cyclonic conditions in Australias North. Most of Australias population lives in wind region A.

    In the closed position the door will withstand the relevant mean wind speed levels as defined by the standard. In the open position the performance of the door is dependent upon several factors including but not limited to the size and the overall weight of the door. In normal circumstances the wind speed required to damage the door is significantly above operating conditions we would expect the door to be opened in.

    Average wind loading for standard doors in the open position is 56km/h or 35 knots.

    Special wind rated doorsThose locations within wind regions B through D are not forgotten. It is important you let Leda know the doors intended location from the outset so our engineers can consider the wind rating in both budget estimates and design of Hydroswing doors.

    Using our structural modeling techniques each element of the door can be adjusted to meet very high performance requirements.

    Wind Case StudyHurricane Charley hit Florida USA Punta Gorda airport in 2004 and the results as you can see in the pictures above were devastating to many of the aircraft hangars on the airport. Hangars were demolished by winds in the storm of 217 km/h. One of the differences determining those hangars that were demolished or ok was the door type. Hangars with Hydroswing doors experienced little if any damage

    Bifold doors were also common on the airport and these doors were quickly blown in which left the aircraft open to flying debris and high winds. The one piece hydraulic doors, however stood strong. Owners of these hangars suffered little if any damage to their hangars and aircraft.

    Why did the Hydroswing doors remain intact? In this case the strength of hydraulics kept the doors from budging. Hydroswing doors have superior strength due to their hydraulic technology. As an additional strengthening feature, Hydroswing doors can use bolts or sliding pins at the base of the door. This is the only part of the door not directly secured to the building structure. Additionally, Leda can now automate the drop bolts into the building or ground for additional strength without the need toremember to install the bolts prior to a cyclone.

    From medium to extreme sizes we can design & manufacture doors up to 60m wide & heights up to 40m.

    All gearbox & motor systems are designed for maximum efficiency.

    EngagementOur recommended staged approach to large door projects is:

    1 . Client to provide specifications & wind loading for the area to which the doors will be installed. Make sure you differentiate wind loadings when the doors are closed or in motion.

    2 . Leda will provide basic door information such as how the doors are typically mounted or similar drawings. They are not site specific at this early stage.

    3 . Leda will provide a door quote including engineering costs. We trust that around this point a preferred supplier can be identified as all costs are now known. Once Leda has the wind loadings, location & door sizes we typically quote in 5-7 days.

    4 . If your due diligence in relation to Leda & the door are satisfied, Leda should be engaged to assist with final door designs to meet site specific building requirements including structural certificate agreement of the door which is crucial to do before the project starts. The structural engineering is billable work but no commitment beyond engineering costs is required.

    5 . Final door & installation costs submitted if any changes.

    6 . Awarding of contract.

    Lead Times GuideWhile Leda will provide a complete project timeline with our quote, some timing guidelines are below:

    1 . Quotation 5-7 days

    2 . Engineering can be from 5 days to 5 weeks & a hard task to pin down as lots of changes, people & sign offs required.

    3 . From drawing sign off to goods ready for shipment (overseas) is approx. 6-10 weeks, again dependant on size & quanitity.

    4 . Shipment time we allow 6 weeks & add 2 more weeks for customs & road shipment to site.

    5 . Installation for small doors is typically 2 5 days & large doors up to 7 14 days each. Doors under 12m can be shipped largely assmebled so faster to install.

    Side Rail & Top SectionsThe side guide rails & bottom sections are manufactured using reinforced steel. The rail system is made from aluminium or steel depending on individual site requirements. Each section is a maximum of 2m to enable rapid & easy repair or replacement in the event of impact damage.

    Cable breakage systems are installed at each end of the bottom section to prevent the door closing in the event ofcable failure. The steel lifting wires are also connected to cable breakage system.

    FabricThe door is made of two layers of heavy duty special 900gram vinyl-coated polyester fabric, seperated by aluminium or steel intermediate sections.

    Vision panels can be built into the doors to allow light penetration when the doors are closed.

    SealsSide rail rubber seals & our custom designed rubber bottom seal provide a weather & vermin resistant seal when the door is closed.

    Wind RatingsSee AS/NZS 1170.2:2011 for wind information for your intended site location. Fabric doors can be designed for cyclone areas which are referred to as Wind Region D in thestandard. Most major cities are inAregions.

    As part of the structural engineering review, other variables in addition to region to be considered inclulde:

    Wind direction

    Surrounding Terrain

    Shape of building

    positive & negative pressure

    Structural Height

    Wind borne debris

    That is why the structural engineering review is conducted at the start of the process so structural engineering certification is provided.

    Consideration should also be given for wind loadings when the door is closed, in motion, or open.

    How it worksThe doors consist of either two sheets of PVC coated polyester fabric with intermediate, horizontal steel or aluminium sections, fitted between the fabrics. These intermediate sections transfer the wind load to vertical guide rails which also supply extra wind resistance. Thedoor leaf is opened by the bottom section being lifted by steel wires which are wound up on drums, driven

    by theautomated drive system. The sections above are stacked on top of one another & the fabric folds into pleats on the sides.

    ConstructionThe door leaf is made of two layers of heavy duty special 900 gram vinyl-coated polyester fabric, seperated by aluminium or steel intermediate sections.

    The intermediate top section is bolted to the header box with steel wire.

    The fabric is attached to both sides of the intermediate sections for added strength.

    Operation SystemThe system can be controlled by a completely automated system or a simple pushbutton. The control box has an up & down button & an emergency stop button.The door automation can be integrated with remote controls, radar, induction loops, sirens or traffic lights

    MaintenanceThe Leda Fabric Doors are low maintenance requiring a recommended annual inspection process to check the steel cable & running rails for any signs of wear & tear.

    Leda Industrial Sectional Doors

    Main FeaturesVertically operated industrial door consisting of thermally insulated horizontal panels sliding on wheels within side runners. The door is tted with ball joints between the panels, it bends near the ceiling and then stops parallel to it (NL- HL- RLO/RLB IL- HLIL versions) or continues further up along the opening (VL version), thus leaving theentire access opening free.

    panelThe panel is 40 mm thick and is supplied in two different heights: 500 and 610 mm. The panel is made of a galvanised steel double wall manufactured with the Sendzimir procedure, then treated with primer and polyester resin paint and subject to a further treatment which ensures a high surface strength. The nish on theoutside of the sheet metal has a STREAKED EFFECT whilst the nish on the inside of the sheet metal has an embossed orange peel effect; the external side of thepanel is made of horizontal groove panels. Anti-pinching and anti-crushing nger-saving device.

    insulationThe insulation tted to the panels is made of 48 kg/m3 density, self extinguishing Class B2, CFCs-free (chlorofluo-rocarbons) polyurethane foam. The average thermal transmittance value for the whole door installed is highly impressive: U = 1.51 W/m2k.

    SealsThe seals supplied as standard are anti-ageing EPDM seals and are located in the following hinged points:

    a) intermediate seals between consecutive panels;

    b) lower doorstop lip seal;

    c) upper doorstop nned seal tted to seal the door near the lintel;

    d) vertical seals, tted to the side uprights.

    Surround profilesThe sides of the door panels are tted with galvanised, white powder coated steel proles which serve the purpose of keeping the consecutive panels that make up the sectional overhead door aligned, as well as holding against the insulated panel the support side hinge for the sliding rollers. In the bottom section of the rst panel a hideaway seal-holder aluminium prole is tted, whilst the upper section of the last panel is enclosed in a black painted aluminium prole which acts as holder for the closure lip seal.

    runners and sliding systemsThe runners are made of galvanised cold proled sheet metal suitably shaped to hold the side rollers. The joint between the runners that make up the door is spot welded and its size is calculated according to the door dimensions and sliding unit type. The sliding operation of the panels inside the runners is ensured by silent operation rollers tted with very strong plastic wheels with radial ball bearings.

    Springs and lifting cablesThe suitably loaded torsion springs are made of a steel cable: they are located inside the upper guide section, on a horizontalshaft directly connected with the cable winder pulleys made of die-cast aluminium and tted withhelicoidal slots which hold themultiwire steel cables used to lift the door.

    Safety devicesThe fully certied safety devices are tted as standard on all doors and will operate in the following cases, in order toavoid the facing from accidentally falling:

    a) in case of traction cable breakage;

    b) in case of torsion spring breakage.

    WarningOnly for doors with PL > around 4000 mm, in HL and VL elevations, all panel dark colours, including those available in the standard range such as colours RAL 8014, RAL6005 and also all non standard dark colours, may cause panel warping due to sunlight, for which we cannot be held responsible: please see the technical manual to find possible solutions to reduce the problem.
