Market maturity isensured by a pro-gramme of severetests: temperaturecycle, steam boiler, vibration, shockand temperatureshock tests.
For hygienicand wet areas
In hygienic and wet areas such asthe food industry, sensors aresubjected to extreme operatingconditions. The housing can bepermanently wetted with aggres-sive cleaning agents. For steamcleaning the sensors do not onlyhave to be absolutely ingress-resistant but also resistant totemperature shocks.Another requirement is a food-grade housing material. The T series from ifm electronicmeets all these requirements.
Resistant: Temperature range up to
100 °C – trouble-free use in hot processes
or cleaning operations.

A full-metal sensor of the T seriesmonitors the valve positions in abrewery.
For industrialapplications
Extremely resistant tomechanical wear.
Tested to extremes:
Before the sensorsare mature for themarket they mustundergo a testmarathon to provetheir reliability:vibration test, shocktest, wire-brushtest or impact test.
Sensors for the metal-processingand automotive industries mustbe tough and largely resistant tomechanical stress.
The full-metal sensors of theR series operate reliably evenafter more than 500,000 impactsand more than one million cyclesin the shock test. The sensing face has a specialcoating where weld spatter doesnot stick. Ideal prerequisites forreliable operation.
Insensitive: The special non-stick coating
allows weld spatter to roll off the sensor
and enables easy and quick cleaning.
Free from corrosion: Threaded body and
sensing face of high-grade stainless steel,
therefore protected against mechanical
stress.
Heat resistant: Thanks to the temperature
range of 0...85 °C even critical tempera -
tures can be handled.
Identifiable: Lasered type label – the
sensors can still be clearly identified even
after several years.
Connection technology: ecolink “EVW” –
distinguished by their weld slag resistant
nuts and cables. These special cables are
also suited for drag chains and torsional
movements. An unbeatable team togeth -

spatter to roll off the sensor and enables
quick and easy cleaning. The sensing faces
of the sensors consist of resistant Duro-
plast. The metal sleeves are PTFE-coated
in addition.
Constant correction factor 1: The new
sensors with correction factor 1 (K = 1)
have the same sensing range on all metals.

For industrialapplications
Versatile and flexible.
In all automated processessensors are absolutely necessaryto provide the PLC with informa-tion. This applies to factory auto-mation, assembly or robotics aswell as to conveying, handlingand packaging technology.
Properties: With almost forty years of
experience in development and produc-
tion, ifm electronic offers a wide product
range of inductive standard sensors.
Types: The standard types M8, M12, M18,
M30 and rectangular as well as many
more support the ideal integration into
your application.
Connection technology: A lasting connec-
tion. With ecolink M12, ifm electronic
offers highly innovative connection tech-
nology. Even in bright lighting conditions,
a black-transparent housing makes the
LEDs much better visible than clear-trans-
parent versions. This is an important pre-
requisite to keep an eye on the plant pro-
cess all the time and to be able to act
quickly in case of problems.
