For over seventy years, Hoskin Scientific has been a supplier of testing and monitoring instrumentation to the Canadian market.

With offices in Vancouver, Burlington, and Montreal our customers are able to receive local sales and technical support in our three major departments.

Our Environmental Department provides solutions for monitoring and sampling biological and chemical parameters in the environment. Our team of environmental sales representatives and diverse product range guarantee that you will find the right products for your application. Specific areas include: water quality, water quantity, soil moisture, plant science, weather stations, indoor air quality, aquatic sampling, and oceanography. Our Materials Testing Department offers testing equipment for soil, asphalt, petroleum, concrete and cement. MX1101 Temperature/Relative Humidity Data Logger

The new HOBO MX1101 measures and transmits temp/RH data to mobile devices wirelessly via Bluetooth® Smart technology. The self-contained wireless data logger, which works with Onset’s free HOBOmobile app for logger setup and data management, enables you to access data anytime from your mobile device over a 100-foot range, and it requires no dedicated equipment beyond a mobile device for configuring the logger or reading out data.

HM40 Series Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter for Quick Inspections and Spot-Checking

The Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter HM40 is compact and easy to use - ideal in wide variety of applications; from structural moisture control and air conditioning systems to industrial production processes and life science applications. Multiple calculated parameters are available: dew point, wet bulb temperature, absolute humidity, mixing ratio, and enthalpy.

HM70 Series Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter for Demanding Spot-Checking Applications

The Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter HM70 is a high-performance, portable humidity reference. It is also ideal for field checking and calibration of Vaisala’s fixed humidity instruments. The HM70 incorporates the latest generation of the Vaisala HUMICAP® Sensor. Pocket Sling Psychrometer

• Sling Psychrometer for determining atmospheric humidity by the reading of two thermometers.

• Measures the wet and dry bulb temperatures of the surrounding air and permits conversion of the readings to a relative humidity percentage on the “slide rule” scale built into the case.

Psycho-Dyne Battery Operated Psychrometer

This portable psychrometer indicates wet and dry bulb temperatures for relative humidity and dewpoint determinations. Housed in a high-impact case, the unit consists of a pair of matched thermometers, magnetic fan motor, plastic water bottle, illuminating lamp,psychrometric slide rule, spare parts kit and manual. No whirling of the instrument is required to obtain readings. A miniature fan provides constant air motion over the thermometers. Humidity is determined from the psychrometric tables included with the instrument. Three “D” cell batteries supply about 1000 operations.

The HOBO Occupancy & Light data logger monitors room occupancy and indoor light changes to identify occupancy patterns and determine energy usage and potential savings. The HOBO UX90-005 Room Occupancy/Light Data Logger is available in a standard 128 KB memory model (UX90-005) capable of 84,650 measurements and an expanded 512KB memory version (UX90-005M) capable of over 346,795 measurements.

Light intensity and UV radiation both contribute in multiple ways to the degradation of materials. Direct sunlight can cause heating and cooling cycles which can result in fading, cracking and buckling of surfaces and bindings, chemical changes, as well as the encouragement of bacterial and fungal invaders. MU-100 UV Integral Sensor with Handheld Meter

Apogee UV sensors incorporate a photodiode that measures combined UVA and UVB radiation. The MU-100 has a sensor integrated into the top of the housing while the handheld meter displays and stores measurements. The meter offers a setting to measure UV in µmol m-2 s-1 or Watts m-2.

MU-200 UV Separate Sensor with Handheld Meter

Apogee UV sensors incorporate a photodiode that measures combined UVA and UVB radiation. The MU-200 has a separate sensor while the handheld meter displays and stores measurements. The meter offers a setting to measure UV in µmol m-2 s-1 or Watts m-2. The sensor housing design features a fully potted, domed-shaped head making the sensor fully weatherproof and self-cleaning.

Nikon ShuttlePix Digital Microscope

The ShuttlePix digital microscope is an all-new, one-of-a-kind digital microscope that can be used as a docked device, for high magnification and various measurements, or as a portable digital camera, for capturing any sample sizes.

This microscope can observe samples of all sizes, such as inspections of art displays to automotives. Use of the stand allows for abrasion observation of electronic and aircraft parts. With the built-in battery, cable-less operation is possible.

When used on the motorized focusing stand and touch panel monitor, the magnification increases from 20x to 400x. ShuttlePix provides ample magnification range that ensures you never have to switch or purchase different lenses for different magnifications. Magnification information is also linked to ShuttlePix’s scale and simple measurement functions.
