1. attending: attend to the individuals and
show concern. It should be totally private.
2. listening: active listening is the key. Lean
forward and maintain eye contact.
3. accepting: they must feel that they are
wanted and are accepted by the organization.
Difference of opinion is accepted. The
individual must feel that they well understood

Investigating- surface their specific concern,open questions and open discussion.
Identifying the problem- questions to focus
on specific problem, generate information,discover the behavior I problem situation.
Diagnosing- exploratory questions, generatingseveral possible causes.
