1!, pg !" #ommunication is probably one of the most important aspects in human life$

%e have to communicate &ith each other to gain information, to e'press ourselves and

to help us &al through life$ Among other things, communication has been lined to

    physical &ell)being (Tubbs and Moses 1!, pg 5"$ According to *te&art (1+"

socially isolated people are more liely to die prematurely- divorced men die at double

affection, inclusion, and control (2earson, etc 341, pg 15"$ %ith all these said, the

need for affection, inclusion and control are related to interpersonal communication$

6irst &ould be the need for affection, it is the emotion of caring for others

and being cared for (2earson, etc 341, pg 15"$ This means that humans have the

need to love and feel loved by others$ This can be reflected by the relationships &e

have &ith other people, lie families, our soul mates, friends, especially our love ones$

0ave you ever found that communicating &ith the person &e trust is much more easier

the strangers &e ust met8 6or e'ample, if your crush ased you anything, you.ll most

probably ust agree &ith him9her more than disagreeing$ This is because &e felt close to

them from the information &e sent them- maing us &ant to be closer to the people &e

    love$

*econd &ould be the need for inclusion, this is the need of being involved

&ith each other, the need to feel lie &e belong to a group (2earson, etc 341, pg 15"$

Most of us probably &ent to high school or university$ 0ave you ever realie boys &ould

    group &ith boys more &hile girls &ill group &ith girls more8 :r maybe you belong to a

group of sporty ocs &hile you see other people are less social and made a small

group of their o&n$ This is because people &ith similar interest usually group &ith each

other$ %hen &e go to unfamiliar places, &e may try to see ne& relationships$ This is

because &e have a need to find a group to fit in, thus you may abandon your old

groups, if it is found unsatisfying$ #ommunicating clearly about ho& much contact or

inclusion &e e'pect in a relationship can help us fulfill this need and allo& relationship to

    gro& (%ilson, 0ant , 0anna 15, pg +"$

believe that &e have the ability to influence our environment (2earson, etc 341, pg

15"$ 2eople have different degree of this need, first &ould be abdicrat &hich is

someone &ith little need to control, this person abdicates all po&er and responsibilities

to his partner in a relationship$ A democrat is a person that taes the middle ground and

can either tae charge or allo& others to be in control$ An autocrat &ant to dominates

others and feels the need for strong control in relationships (%ilson, 0ant , 0anna

    15, pg +"$

/nclusion could be the start of interpersonal relationship, &here first you

&ant to get to no& each other by e'changing names, contact number, and interest$ /f

you find both of you are compatible, you may start to go on dates and being introduced

to each other.s friends and starting to engage in intimacy (2earson, etc 341, pg 13"$

After that, the need for affection may start bet&een the couple, you &ill start &ith maybe
