INFORMATION FOR FRESHERS-2015-16:
I.G.I.T.,Sarang is an autonomous and residential technical institute under the Govt of Odisha located
near Talcher on the bank of river the Brahmani. Insttitute was established in the year 1982. Presently, the
Institute offers the following courses:
- B.Tech. in Civil, Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics & Telecomm.
Mechanical and Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Production Engineering & Bachelor in
Architecture.

LOCATION: The place being located in central Odisha is well connected by both rail
and road to all parts of the State and the country. IGIT is situated across
three National Highways(NH-23, NH 200 and NH 42) and the city of
Talcher is an important railway junction. The Institute is located 160 kms
from State capital in the district of Dhenkanal. The nearest Railway Stations
from which one can reach the Inst. are-
- Talcher- 12 kms
- Talcher Thermal(Passenger halt)- 07 kms
- Talcher Road- 17kms
To approach the Institute by Bus, one has to get down at Talcher or Ballhar Chhak and it is 10 and
05 kms respectively from these places. From Angul it is 30 kms. Regular bus services are available
from Bhubaneswar/Cuttack to Angul/Talcher.
The Biju Pattanaik Airport is 170 kms located at State Capital Bhubaneswar.
POTENTIAL & ACHIEVEMENTS :
I. Infrastructural facilities: The Institute spreads over an area of 176 acres encompassing a big
administrative building , 08 academic Departments , Central automated Library, Central Computer
Centre, Central Workshop, 08 nos of student hostels having accommodation facility for 1500
students, 200 staff quarters, big playgrounds for football, cricket, basket ball courts, badminton
courts, valley ball courts, State Bank, Guest House, Hospital, Post Office, Canteen, Students and
employees Co-operative Consumer stores, Gymnasium, temple, children park and different clubs
etc. Additional land of 200 acres is being alienated for further expansion of the institute. A full
fledged bank counter of S.B.I. with core banking facilities is available in the Inst. Premises where
every student has to open an account during admission.
II Highly Qualified Faculty: The Institute has a good profile of highly qualified
faculty members. There are 120 nos of teaching positions in the grades of
Professors, Associate .Professors & Asst.Professors. Nearly 60% of them have
Doctoral degrees and Research experiences.
III Well Equipped Laboratories: All the Departments of the Institute have well
developed laboratories having sufficient facilities to cater to the requirements of
Engineering courses of undergraduate as well as post graduate level.
IV Computer facilities and Internet services : In addition to advanced computing
facilities, the students have access to CAD/CAM training resources and
Wi-Fi internet connectivity is available for staff and students.
V. Dress Code : The students must come to the institute with uniform dress and use of
Institute blazer is compulsory. The blazer colour is z-blue and the tie colour is marron . The dress
materials are available in Kalamandir,Bhubaneswar &
M/s. Jayashree Cloth Stores,Hatatota,Talcher.
REPORTING OF STUDENTS : On the date of first reporting, all Ist year B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA/B.Arch/
Diploma students are to report at Gopabandhu Auditorium of the Institute for final admission . After
admission, all students are to go back to their home. Hostel admission will be held on the final date of
reporting . The anticipated dates for first reporting are as under. Any changes will be notified in the Institute
web-site & News paper.

Semester Lateral Entry students are to report in the Academic Section of the Institute for
admission formalities.(REPORTING DATES WILL BE NOTIFIED LATTERON)
HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION:
All Students to take admission should note that only limited seats are available in the Ist year Hostel.
Available seats will be allotted strictly on merit basis as will be decided by the authority of the Institute. Rest
of the students are to arrange for their accommodation at their own level.They may avail hostel seats in the
Off Campus Hostels available at Angul.
In this connection they should contact Sri B.D.Biswal,Asst.Prof. & Chairman,Off Campus Hostel Committee(
through Mobile No. 9439351505/ 9437446751) well in advance.
Based on the merit, a tentative list of students to be allotted hostel seats in the on campus Hostels will
be notified before reporting of the students. Accordingly those students are to take admission in the hostel on
the date first reporting after completion of admission formalities.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All students are to first report in the Institute Auditorium and
complete final admission formalities submitting the following
documents and then proceed to respective Hostel for
accommodation.
1)One set of Xerox copies of TC/Conduct/Marksheets/Rank Card
2)04 pass port size colour photographs
3)Migration certificate where necessary
4)Registration Card received while admission
5)01 Photograph of father/mother/guardian to be recorded
in the Hostel.
6)Allotment order and fees deposition receipt issued by OJEE/DET
7)Affidavits duly executed by the candidate and by his/her
father/guardian both in English and Odia in the prescribed format
appended bellow on judicial stamped papers.
FEES STRUCTURE
Appart from the fees to be deposited at the Central Counseling, students
are to deposit the fees as under in the Institute at the time of reporting.

(b)Hostel dues in favour of the Supdt. of respective Hostels
N.B. 1)Students interested to pay the Institute admission fees through internet banking/transfer through
NEFT/RTGS system may do so and transfer the amount to our Inst. A/c No.30295104395 and produce the
deposition /transfer receipt at the time of admission. Also students may pay the amount in shape of A/c payee
