Dr. Manjit Singh, Chairman, Governing Body,IGIPESS is a literary Scientific & Socio-culturalactivist is HOD, Deptt. of Punjabi, University ofDelhi, Delhi with more than 34 years of teachingexperience at University level. He is author of morethan 32 books of repute and many research papers atNational & International Level. He has supervised 13scholars at doctoral level and more than 30 studentsfor their M.Phil. Dissertations. He has translatedmany novels from Hindi/English to Punjabi to hiscredit. He is awarded and honoured by variousreputed literary and cultural & socio-association forLiterature and Socio-cultural activities.
His main areas of interest are the (Myth Vigyan)science of Myth, Poetics of Gurbani, Myth, Art &Literature, Punjabi Poetry of various periods.

Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education &Sports Sciences was established in 1987. It is theonly Institute of Physical Education in Govt. ofN.C.T. of Delhi. The Institute provides courses oflearning for B.Sc. (PEHE & S), B.P.Ed. & M.P.Ed.Presently 30 Teachers are working in this Instituteout of which 26 are Ph.D. and 01 is M.B.B.S. I feelproud to tell you that in the entire country, thereare not such number of Ph.D. in any University orCollege percentage wise. 70% of our Teacher areengaged in guiding Ph.D. and M.Phil. Scholars.

MAJOR MILESTONES 3rd August, 1987 : College of Physical Education started
with B.Sc. (PEHES) Course.
August, 1988 : College of Physical Education renamed as
Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports
Sciences.
September, 1990 : P.G.D.P. Ed. Course started.
Martch, 1991 : Permanent Principal joins.
July, 1991 : Sixteen permanent teachers added.
April, 1994 : Master’s Degree started.
July, 2000 : M.P.Ed. & B.P.Ed. (P.G.D.P.Ed.) Courses
recognized by NCTE .
May, 2005 : D.U. Deptt. created.
June, 2006 : First Head appointed.
May, 2007 : Ph.D. Course started.
August, 2012 : Multi-Gymnasium created.

IMBEDDED IN EDUCATION
Sports are yet to be fullyimbedded with general educationsystem. It needs to be taughtjust like a language being taughtuniversally to all students.

SPORTS for Human Environment
The Environment paper being
introduced on the behest of
Supreme Court of India, should
also include human internal and
external environments for
wholistic personality development.

Oxygen is Internal
Environment of Human Beings
The internal human environment
is maintained mainly by oxygen
provided through physical activity
and sports which needs to be
thoroughly told to all for making
adequate exercises to make O2
available to all cells of the body.

SPORTS as External
Environment
The external human environment isgreatly affected by social interactionpromoted through sports
and the sports infrastructurecreation to reduce inactivity pollutionwhich has become a pandemicphenomenon in modern world.

Teaching Modern Food Pyramid
The teaching of food pyramid should
also include oxygen as a nutrient
obtained through physical activity &
outdoor sports of three categories –
namely, Cardio-respiratory, Weight
(Muscular) and Flexibility (Stretching)
exercises.

Current HE is not only unbalanced but also unorganized due to non classification of subjects and due to exclusion of important subjects in undergraduate education , like Management, Sports Education, to name only a few.
BALANCING GENERAL EDUCATION IS
POSSIBLE THROUGH PAS DEVELOPMENT
Since , presently higher education has notorganized itself through proper weightageto its subjects ,no valid assessmentcriteria is including self responsibility to
BEHAVIOR CHANGE AND THAT OF PAS ,have been optimally included inaccreditation of educational standards.
Therefore , there is a great need to haveinternational collaborations to strengthenthe need for INTRODUCING “BE CAKE”METHOD THROUGH SPORTS EDUCATION.
