My CoverThe genre for my magazine will be ‘Indie’, the reason I chose Indie is because I liked the pictures a lot and the fact that not a lot is going on. For example pop magazine cover is a complete mess, a lot is going on and there are usually at least 5 photos, a lot of writing and very bright colours like pink and that put me off from choosing ‘Pop’ genre magazine.

To know more about how my magazine cover should look like, I decided to research a little and find different brands of Indie magazine covers.

DIFFERENT INDIE MAGAZINE BRAND NAMES:• TRACE• INDIE• WONDERLAND• LONE WOLF• i-D

CLOSE UP BIG MASTERHEAD ON THE TOP OF THE PAGE TO

MAKE IT STOUND OUT FROM THE WRITING. Not smiling I like this magazine cover because it’s very

different, the model has a lot of ‘make up’ on and what I mean by make is the white part on top of her head (eyes, forehead and hair!), big fake eyelashes and a necklace that covers the models entire neck.

The background is empty, it’s all white.

o MEDIUM CLOSE UP.o AT LEAST 4 DIFFERENT FONTS ON THE COVER.o I like this cover because I absolutely love the photo

that was used. Models hair are light brown with yellow parts mostly, which also seem to be a bit ‘greasy’ to give it a more indie look?

o Big round sunglasseso “COME AND SEE THE BLINDING” like the font that

was used for this sentence. o Not smilingo Thanks to the background we know it was taken

outside when the sun was still out and thanks to that the photo isn’t too dark or too light.

Medium shot Of a girl wearing colourful clothes Pink hair-very Indie style Pink eye shadow to match the hair and clothes Pale skin Not smiling-seriousI like this cover because of the girl’s hair which are also in fashion this year !

Empty blue background Medium close up Gold paint? On her fingers and face The models hair style is something new/different-you

don’t see this type of hair style every day Very simple natural make up Naked? No top on No writing only title of the magazine’s brand name I like this cover because it looks very creative, some good effort and thoughts were put in to the photo-shoot. E.g. the gold paint had to be carefully put on the model’s face and hand.

COMMENTAfter going through these 4 different covers I know that my cover should include those: A very good main photo which will make my magazine standout from all the other magazine’s on the

shelve. A master head on top of the page which will bring attention, therefore it needs to be quite big. I don’t think I need to worry about the writing a lot, because I know that I don’t even need any!But because I don’t want my cover to be empty, I will add just a little bit of writing. Non of the covers I analyzed had more than one photo (main photo that covers the entire page)

The next few pages are just screenshots of a lot of i-D magazine covers because they are quite different and their main photos are something new to see because other magazine’s don’t have photo-shoot's like them.

I realized that their photos are quite artistic and the company tries to have each new cover look completely different from the older one’s. They try new thinks, like make-up, hair styles, editing, collage.

The only thing that repeats is the ‘blink’. What I mean by that is that the models have their left eye closed and right opened, as if they were winking at us !
