ARCTIC MONKEYS

Arctic Monkeys are a British Indie Rock Band from Sheffield consisting of Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Nicky O’Malley. The band was formed in 2002 and since then they have released; • 5 studio albums –

The band started out rehearsing at Yellow Arch Studios in Neepsend, and they played their first gig at ‘The Grapes’ in Sheffield city centre on the 13 June 2003. They began to record demoes at 2fly studios in Sheffield – they recorded 18 in total (a collection known as Beneath the Boardwalk) which were gave away free at gigs. Arctic Monkeys gained a lot of attention in the beginning on MySpace, and when asked about the popularity of their MySpace page in an interview, they said they were unaware of what it was. The page had originally been created by fans.

JAKE BUGG

Jake Bugg is a 22 year old British musician, singer and songwriter from Nottingham. He was born to musical parents and first picked up the guitar at the age of 12. He was enrolled into a music technology course, but by the time he turned 16 he had dropped out and was writing and performing his own songs. At the age of 17, Jake Bugg was selected to perform at Glastonbury in 2011 on the BBC Introducing stage after he submitted his music to their website, and he then signed to Mercury Records.

As well as 3 studio albums, Jake Bugg also has three EPs and seventeen singles.

Some of his most well known songs include ‘Lightening Bolt’, ‘Messed Up Kids’, ‘Bitter Salt’, ‘Seen It All’ and ‘Simple Pleasures’.

Jake Bugg has won 3 awards including Q Awards ‘Best New Act’, NME Awards ‘Best Solo Act’ and Silver Clef Awards ‘Best Male’. He has also been nominated for a further 10 awards.

The SMITHS

The Smiths were an English Indie Rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. Members of the band included vocalist Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce.

In October of 1982, The Smiths first performed publicly as a support act at The Ritz venue in Manchester.

The Smiths have been widely influential to many, including Oasis’ Noel Gallagher who said “When The Jam split, The Smiths started, and I totally went for them.”In 2007, Simon Goddard from Q Magazine argued that The Smiths were the “one truly vital voice of the 80’s” and that they were the “most influential British guitar group of the decade.”

The Smiths have released 4 studio albums; 1. The Smiths (1984)2. Meat Is Murder (1985)3. The Queen Is Dead (1986)4. Strangeways, Here We Come (1987)

As well as 4 studio albums, The Smiths also released one Extended Play (EP), one live album, 10 compilation albums, one video album and twenty singles.

OASISOasis were an English Rock Band from Manchester, formed in

1991. The band originally consisted of Liam Gallagher, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan and Tony McCarroll. Liam’s older brother, Noel Gallagher later joined the band as a fifth member.

The band played their first ever live gig in August 1991 at the Boardwalk club in Manchester. After recording a proper demo, rehearsals and live shows for over a year, they were spotted by the Co-Owner of Creation Records; Alan McGee, in May 1993.

Oasis received 6 awards from 17 nominations for the BRIT Awards.

They were also nominated for three Grammy awards, they received 2 awards from 3 nominations for the Ivor Novello Awards and were nominated for 2 Mercury Prizes on top of many other awards and nominations.

Jamie tJamie T (aged 30) is an English singer-songwriter from

Wimbledon, South London. He is currently signed to Virgin Records. When Jamie was younger he suffered from panic attacks, which had an influence on his first album “Panic Prevention”.

His songs received a lot of airplay on XFM in 2006, particularly “Sheila” and “If You Got The Money”.

Jamie has 4 studio albums:1. Panic Prevention (2007)2. Kings & Queens (2009)3. Carry On The Grudge (2014)4. Trick (2016)

As well as his four studio albums, Jamie T has also released two live albums, five extended plays (EPs), thirteen singles and sixteen music videos.

Since 2007, Jamie T has received 4 NME Awards including best solo artist. His song “Zombie” received two awards, one for best track and one for best music video in 2015.
