Welcome!Indian Spirit… the spirit of India… what does it stand for? Well, it stands for

the very special vibe that could be found at the palm-lined beaches of East India during the early 90s, at a place named Goa.

It was here where hippies and dropouts from all around the world gathered, just to forget about all the constraints of modern society and all the stress of everyday life. As turned out, electronic dance music was just perfect for this

very purpose… little by little, an own style evolved, strongly influenced by the psychedelic roots of this multicoloured crowd. It should have the same name as

the magical place where it was born. So much for history!

Here at Indian Spirit we don’t just want to revive the atmosphere of those years, don’t want to follow the attitude of nostalgia-addicts: “everything used to be

better back then!” No, our aim is to evolve it further, to take it to the next level, to an up-to-date level. In doing so, we are open-minded for everything that is fun and that makes us all have a great time together. In the end we believe that it is exactly this open-minded attitude that characterizes the original Indian Spirit –

20 years ago just like today!

Have a great time at this festival–See you on dance floor!

Like a phoenix from the water

We’ve often heard the question: What is that

“watery” motive on this year’s Indian Spirit

flyerabout? Well, it is a water phoenix.

A what...? You know, in ancient Egyptian and Greek

mythology there is this bird. It’s flying through

the night, having wild adventures, but when

the morning comes, it burns in flames once

struck by the first golden sunbeams… just to

arise from its ashes again, young and fresh like

a newborn. We modified this idea of the fire

bird a little. Our phoenix does not arise from

the ashes, but from the water that sometimes

falls down from the sky. It cannot do any harm

to him – and that is why we chose him as our

new patron saint!

Festival historyThe first Indian Spirit Festival was held 1999

on a small airfield close to the city of Kyritz.

Like so often, this first time was a little

chaotic- however, everybody had a really

good time. So the history went on, year after

year the open air grew a little bigger and

got more professional. Since 2005 Indian

Spirit takes places on this venue, close to the

village of Heiligengrabe. Thank you very much

for the good neighbourhood, by the way!

A very important step in the evolution of the

festival was taken when a few years ago the

promoters of the legendary Tshitraka,

brothers Montagu & Golkonda, joined the

team around original organizer DJ Syncron.

Also Vaishiyas, head of SpinTwist Records,

is a part of Indian Spirit today…

The positive effect which this cooperation

has on the quality of the event and the

amount of fun people have is very noticeable

when having a listen and a peek at the

dance floor!

Class APounding offbeat bass lines indicate a clear direction: Straight to the dance floor! Upon this mighty drive, complex melody layers evolve, grow bigger and bigger into endless echo chambers… just to snap back into a seamless, rolling groove a few bars later. After only 2 years on the scene, Ghost Rider und Ranji from Israel got signed on the prestigious Progressive Trance label Blue Tunes Records. An impressing proof of their talent- and definitely a good explanation for their project name: Class A!

Sunday, 7 PM

TristanOn the one hand, his music still has the original vibe of the first Goa parties which were held during the early 90s on the beaches of India. On the other hand he manages to re-invent this kind of music again and again, keeping it always exciting and providing ever new psychedelic surprises. Since more than 15 years this one-of-a-kind mixture makes Tristan from the UK one of the most popular DJs and Psytrance producers. It’s no exaggeration to say that he has been one of the driving forces behind the development of the sound of our scene- and he still is: If there is anything like a 2012-version of Goa Trance – he is definitely a prime example for it!

Sunday, 3 AM

AvalonPropelled by the massive boost of rolling bass lines, the sound of Avalon provides a force similar to a proper shot of high-proof alcohol. However, the percussive elements, spacey sound layers and playful melodies unfolding during his sophisticated build-ups reveal a very sensitive and sophisticated character. So it’s no wonder that the debut album of this UK-based producer was released on NANO Records, a label that is strongly associated with the term “intelligent Full On”. Beside his successful solo work as Avalon, he also joined forces with Tristan for another powerhouse project named Killerwatts.

Sunday, 2 AM

Coming SoonSince a couple of months there is one phrase to be heard more and more often among scene insiders: Coming Soon. It is the humours name of a brand new project that is held to be one of the most up and coming newcomers in terms of high-quality Progressive Trance. For a good reason, because it was established by two very popular Full On producers: Switch and Cycle Sphere. Their joint forces present a mighty double dose of production experience which is converted into a banging Progressive groove- deep, hypnotic and driving as it can be. Here at Indian Spirit the two of them play their first live set in Germany ever.

Timegate 36030. - 31.12.2012 - Porrentruy, Switzerland

Whoever had the pleasure of spending the end of the year in the environment of the mysterious

Timegate knows: This event in the Swiss city of Porrentruy is absolutely equal to an international

open air festival in terms of size, intensity and sensory stimulus- while being perfectly protected

against the unfavourable climate of the winter. This year the promoters announced a “never seen

360° edition that will make you head spin!” Considering the remarkable high quality standard

of the past events, the breathtaking visual mappings and perfectly synchronized light- and laser

shows, all signs point to a true highlight! This impression is enforced when having a peek at the

artist names which have already been announced on the lineup… As always, Timegate will

take place in the vast premises of an indoor tennis court, providing lots of room for several dance

floors, smoking lounges and chill out areas, market places, etc.

The Substance – Albert Hof-mann’s LSDLSD has a truly colourful history. A history that changed the world we live in.

A history that is told on this DVD. The footage used for this documentary is a

mixture of coarse-grained black and white shots, early colour film from the

60s, and recent pictures. Everything is connected by an interview with Albert

Hofmann, leading through the 90 minutes like a golden thread. Shortly

before his 100th birthday the inventor of LSD recalls the risks and prospects

of his famous “problem child”.There is lots of original footage from the 50s

and 60s showing the numerous clinical experiments

with LSD. Some of them kind of funny, for instance when a painter, obviously flying pretty high, is

interviewed in the sterile environment of a treatment room by a very insistent doctor.

The Mountain Girl of the Merry Pranksters talks about the positive effects of LSD, but she also

recalls the problems caused by thousands of homeless hippies on the streets of San Francisco.

Nicholas Sand, one of the famous ‘Yellow Sunshine’ chemists, says that he sent hundreds and

thousands of tablets to the US-American soldiers in Vietnam- for free.

Altogether it is shown in a very impressive way how common

LSD used to be for large parts of society. The end of the

documentary shows recent footage about the therapeutical

usage of LSD and psilocybin for cancer patients.

A great feature of this DVD: It comes with

a German, a English, a French and an

Italian version!nachtschatten.ch

The bright opening of the Dark FloorThe opening of the Dark Floor on Friday night will be everything but „dark“: Faith Fullon presents

an amazing as well as blazing fire show! Since 12 years the 31-year old man from Hamburg

combines the flowing elegance of Capoeira and Wing Tsung movements with the one-of-a-kind

magic of fire. Here at Indian Spirit he announced a very special, very daring, and very spectacular

Capoeira fire show. If you have seen this beautiful combination of dancing and martial arts, you

probably know what to expect: Lot and lots of handsprings and somersaults, combined with fire

breathing and burning sticks!

Dark Floor, Friday 9 – 10 PM

Let the Dark Floor shine! Also after its bright opening the Dark Floor won’t fall into darkness-

thanks to the amazing work of the Uhu Crew! What began in 2008 with 2 persons

and their mutual passion for doing handicrafts grew bigger and bigger over the years.

Today, the team consist of 10 members, including the chief, quality assurance,

the head of the logistics department, the coffee cook, and all the other freaks and

fraggles a project like this requires. In the beginning there was also some decoration

made of stretch fabrics, today the Uhu Crew is well-known for its large-scale string art decoration.

20 intact expanda 29.09.2012 – Hühnerposten, Hamburg

Hamburg is famous for its lively party scene since many years. So you better be prepared for a true

highlight when the indoor season starts after summer: The name of this magnificent spectacle is

Intact Expanda, and it really has the license for a maximum of party pleasure!

After the growing popularity of Intact Expanda caused a more than packed scenario during the last

edition, the promoters now got a highly official license for extra party space: A special authorization

allows them to accommodate the big main floor in the huge entry hall of the venue. There will be a

lot of “serious Psytrance” from artists like Breathead, who performs for the first time in Hamburg, Waio

or Corona. Of course a proper dose of high-quality Progressive Trance is not missing, served by Captain

Hook, Hanzo, NOK, and others. Additionally there is a large Chillspace with music plus a vast lounge

area for friendly get-togethers beyond the dance floors. The infrastructure has been upgraded again

to guarantee a maximum of comfort, e.g. in form of an extra cloakroom tent. Matching the high-end

approach of Intact Expanda, special sound systems and an exclusive decoration concept by Giant

Optics and Funplastica have been announced for all the floors!

kubaHis producer name might be misleading: Laurence Harvey

doesn’t come from a Caribbean island but from Cambridge

in the UK. Anyway, listening to his music inevitably

provokes warm, tropical and sunlit fantasies. Hovering

clouds of pad sounds, intertwined melody fractals and

cascades of sparkling harmonies tell emotional stories from

a remote paradise. Thanks to inspiring quotes from World

Music, stimulating percussions and cosy bass pressure the

Kuba sound never sends it’s listeners to sleep but takes

them on an exciting trip to destinations no airline will

ever reach.

SunfishTwo experienced jazz musicians, Ambient sounds as deep

as the ocean and a special 3D video: The Sunfish gig is

definitely one of the highlights in the Chill Out! Josephine

and Claudia met while studying music. Together they create

a sound that can hardly be labelled, something between

Ambient, experimental loop-wackiness and Freestyle Jazz

with a very profound and emotional character. As for the

incredibly rich and complex singing- you just have to hear

it yourself! The cherry on the cake is a special 3D video that

will be shown.

kashyyykSince already 21 years Mexican Pablo Valdes dedicates his

life to music. He has been through numerous stages and

gathered lots of experience in a variety of different genres.

Eventually he ended up in the Psytrance scene- which is a

great blessing, since this vibrant guy turns out to be a true

generator of pure innovation and cosmic energy. Massive

bass pressure is the foundation for his kafkaesque labyrinths

of sound. Listeners will frequently get lost on the freakish

roller coaster ride between multi-dimensional sound layers.

Kashyyyk is an amazing proof that hardness does not

necessarily conflict with sensitivity!

TegmentumThe whole is more than the sum of its parts, as the saying

goes. That means you may look forward to something really

special if only the single parts are damn good already.

In this case Tegmentum, the mutual project of the Swiss

Yaminahua and the German Calyptratus. These guys feed

their creative energies into a huge particle accelerator

and make them collide at very high speed. The result are

mysterious new elements from unknown dimensions…

first research reports describe them as “hi-speed full power
