Indian Premier League

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional league for Twenty 20 Cricket championship in India . It was initiated by the Board for control of India  (BCCI), headquartered in Mumbai ,Maharashtra and is supervised by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla who serves as the league's Chairman and Commissioner. It is currently contested by nine teams, consisting of players from around the cricketing world. It was started after an altercation between the BCCI and the Indian Cricket League . The inaugural season of the tournament started on 18 April 2008 and lasted for 46 days with 59 matches scheduled .

• Chennai Super Kings is owned by India Cements which paid $ 91 million to acquire its rights for the next ten years, from the IPL. The Vice-chairman and Managing Director of India Cements, N. Srinivasan, is the defacto owner of the team .

• The name 'Super Kings' not only honors the golden era of Tamil culture but is also associated with the brand name - Coromandel King super grade cement - promoted by the India Cements Group . 

• CSK has been the most successful team in the Indian Premier League, winning the title twice. They reached the final in the first season of the IPL before losing out to Rajasthan Royals

Kings 11 Punjab• The first owners of the franchise included Preety Zinta ,Karan Paul (Apeejay Surendera Group) and Mohit Barman (Dabur) ,The group paid a total of $76 million to acquire the franchise. On 10 October 2010 the franchise agreement of Kings eleven was terminated by the IPL committee along with Rajasthan Royals due to their disputes. But they were brought back .

Rajesthan Royals • Rajasthan Royals became the champions of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2008. The players of the team are led by Shane Warne, also their coach .

• Bollywood Actress Shilpa Shetty and her business partner Raj Kundra later bought 11.7% stake in Rajasthan Royals, by paying around US $15.4 million .
