    perhaps due to consumption of contaminated water. State/DistrictRRT investigated the outbreak. Population of the affected areawas 1500. People were of low socio economic status. Opendefecation was observed in the affected jhuggi and jhopdi colony.All age groups affected. All cases treated locally. One deathoccurred in 45 yr old male. Out of 10 water samples collected, 3samples were positive for cholera culture and 5 samples were

    positive for E. coli. All cases were advised to take treatment fromGovt Dispensary. Open defecation was discouraged. ORS

    packets and Chlorine tablets made available at Govt Dispensary.People were advised to use boiled water for drinking purpose.IEC done.

    Outbreak of loose motion reported from Village/SC Amadalpur,PHC Sabepur, Block Jagadhri, District Yamuna Nagar. DistrictRRT investigated the outbreak. House to house survey done.Population of the affected area was 4921. Pipeline leakages wereobserved in the community. Temporary medical camp organized.Medicine and ORS packets given to cases. Out of 4 stool samplescollected and sent to DPHL, Karnal, 1 sample was positive forcholera by culture. 10 water samples collected tested negative forresidual chlorine (OT test). Further, 6 water samples collected for

    bacteriological testing; result awaited. Alternate supply ofdrinking water provided. Pipeline leakages repaired by PHED.Chlorine tablets distributed. Health talks done with local peopleregarding use of boiled water for drinking purpose, hygiene andsanitation.

    Case reported from Village Lathi, District Amreli. District RRT investigatedthe outbreak. Population of the affected area was 20886. A 45 year femaleadmitted in PDU, Medical College, Rajkot on 15/08/13 with complaints offever and gastritis. Patient expired on 18/08/13. Serum sample sent to NIV,Pune tested positive for CCHF by Real Time RT-PCR. A total of 20 cattleserum samples and 40 pool of hard ticks sample have been collected and sentto NIV, Pune; result awaited. Garbage removal and cleanliness drive

    undertaken in the village by Gram Panchayat. Antilarval activity, foggingand insecticide spray. Veterinary Dept has undertaken Acarecidal treatmenton cattle with Deltametrhrin. Search for cases i s being done.
