Dil Se House AR November 2015

    Dil Se House improvements:

    Dil Se House

Our objective is to build a stronger relationship with partners Dil Se, which through useof recycled materials where possible will lead to the renovation of a safer and caringenvironment for the protection of children and ensure environmental sustainability.

Dil Se is the partner responsible for Tejus girls home and undertakes great work with thechildren of Kerala. Dil Se House is undergoing major renovation work to provide officespace for Dil Se, as well as counseling and legal services for victims of child abuse.

Its been a very busy couple of months at Dil Se house and the changes made are amazing.Towards the end of October through our contacts here on the ground we have managed tooversee the installation of a brand new boundary wall that came in on budget and for a fractionof the cost previously quoted to our partner Cristelle Hart.

After a couple of site visits by council officials to confirm where the boundary betweenneighboring properties actually was we set a date for the contractors to come in and oversawtheir works. In one day they cleared out obstacles, concreted in the new posts and installed theprefabricated concrete wall sections clearly defining the property making it a great space tovisit, work and play in.

    St Louis School Toilets

St Louis School is one of our partner schools in the Mundamveli area of Fort Kochiwhere education spends much of its time teaching English, sports and arts activities toprimary age children.

At the end of October several contractors were approached to provide designs and quotationsfor the construction of new toilets at St. Louis School. One of these stood out for its cost, qualityand the connection the contractor already had with the school and St. Louis church. At thesame time Guy Crossman from the Anna Crossman Trust was visiting Kochi and saw the issuewith the existing toilets first hand and expressed great interest in helping.

Following the ACT visit and meetings back in the UK they announced mid-November that theywould fund the whole budget for the construction of the new toilets. This has been an amazingresult and we cannot thank the Anna Crossman Trust enough for their generosity andassistance.

Works will commence on site mid-December and GVI volunteers, parishioners and parents ofthe children at St. Louis will assist wherever possible. The aim is to complete works by mid toend of January.
