Day 1 – Depart USA Today you will board your flight to Delhi. Mealsand refreshments will be served on board. Day 2 - Delhi Upon arrival, proceed to baggage claim and after clearingcustoms, you will be met by our local representative and transferred toyour hotel in Delhi. Welcome to India, the world's most colorful countryand to Delhi, a vibrant melting pot. Here you’ll hear all languagesspoken, the most common few being Hindi, English, or Punjabi. Delhicaptures two very different worlds, the “old” and the “new,” eachpresenting exquisitely diverse experiences. Spacious New Delhi wasbuilt as the imperial capital of India by the British and lively Old Delhi,the ancient capital of Indian culture. The rest of the day is free for youto spend at your leisure. This evening enjoy a welcome to India dinner.(D)Day 3 – Delhi/Jaipur Following breakfast today you will depart yourhotel in Delhi and visit Birla Temple, also known as Birla Mandir, one ofDelhi's main temples and a major attraction. Built by the industrialistG.D. Birla in 1939, the temple was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi onthe condition that people of all castes would be allowed to enter thetemple. This beautiful temple is dedicated to Laxmi, the goddess ofprosperity, and Narayana, the preserver. Afterwards you will betransferred to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur. Jaipur is one of the world’s mostnoted gem producers. On arrival you can check into the hotel beforeenjoying a gem cutting and polishing demonstration as well as carpetweaving and block printing demonstration. (B) Day 4 – Jaipur Start your day with a tour to the Amber Fort and Palace,located a short distance from the walled city. Just like the maharajahsof a few centuries ago, enjoy the ascent up to the ramparts of the forton top of a colorfully caparisoned elephant. The massive Fort complexwas originally built by Raja Mansingh and is one of India’s finestexamples of Rajput architecture. Explore the chambers and hallways,which are famous for their exquisite designs and handcraftedembellishments. After the tour the afternoon is free for you to spend atyour leisure, or take an optional half-day city tour of the walled city ofJaipur, including the magnificent city palace. Visit Jantar Mantar(UNESCO World Heritage Site), the magnificent stone observatory builtby Raja Jai Singh in 1728. Continue the tour with an exploration of thecity palace, the former royal residence (a part of it is still occupied bythe Royal family and is not accessible to the public), built in a blend ofRajasthani and Mughal architectural styles. This immense complex alsohouses a number of museums that offer a vast and impressivecollection of costumes, armory, and miniature paintings. (B) Day 5 - Jaipur/Agra Today you will depart Jaipur and visit Fatehpur Sikri.This splendid fortified ancient city was the short-lived capital of theMughal Empire from 1571 to 1585 during the reign of Emperor Akbar.Akbar visited the village of Sikri to consult the Sufi saint Shaikh SalimChishti who predicted the birth of an heir to the Mughal throne. Whenthe prophecy came true, Akbar built his new capital here, including astunning mosque – still in use today – and three palaces, one for eachof his favorite wives, one a Hindu, one a Muslim and one a Christian.Unfortunately the city was erected in an area that suffered from watershortages and was therefore abandoned shortly after Akbar’s death.After the tour you will be transferred to Agra. On arrival you can checkinto the hotel before enjoying a marble craftsmanship demonstration.(B)

Day 6 – Agra At sunrise this morning we will visit one of the SevenWonders of the World, the incomparable Taj Mahal, to witness itschanging facade in the morning sun. The world’s greatest monumentdedicated to love is appropriately a UNESCO World Heritage Site. TheTaj Mahal was completed by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1653 A.D. as amemorial to his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. This spectacular whitemarble mausoleum was created by approximately 22,000 skilledcraftsmen, taking twenty two years to complete. You will experience theTaj Mahal with our guide who shares unique insights into itsinnumerable facets. It’s so intriguing that some of their passion for thismasterpiece may rub off on you. Explore the amazing Taj and itssurroundings until it is time to admire the sun’s rays setting on thefaçade of the world’s finest monument. We will return to the hotel forbreakfast, then you can enjoy some free time, or take an optional tourto Agra Fort. This sprawling fortress, more accurately described as amassive walled palatial city, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. (B)Day 7 – Agra/Delhi After breakfast today you will be transferred toDelhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, you can check into the hotel and spend theevening at leisure, or take an optional tour of Old Delhi. Discover theancient city’s streets and alleys, explore colorful bazaars, see theamazing Red Fort – once known as the 8th wonder of the World, visitHindu temples, and learn about India's struggle for independence. (B) Day 8 - Delhi Today is yours to relax by the pool or head to Delhi’scolorful bazaars to shop for gifts or simply take-in the Indian culture. (B)Day 9 – Delhi/USA Today you will enjoy a sightseeing tour of New Delhiwith an expert local guide, beginning at Qutb Minar, dating back to 1193A.D. This 239-foot tall medieval tower is a symbol of victory and abeautiful example of Persian architecture from that period. Marvel atthe amazing Baha’i Lotus Temple, a marble symbol of peace, and visitRaj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s serene and evocative cremation site. Seethe stately India Gate that memorializes the huge loss of life in the firstand second world wars, the Parliament building, and the President’shouse before enjoying a farewell dinner to India and transferring to theinternational airport for your onward flight.
