Independent Operator Setup Guide for

Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System

(GFDRS)

1. Download and Setup of GFDRS.

2. Using GFDRS.

1. SETUP

1. Login into ETIS as normal.

2. Go to HELP page (ignore the “connecting to GFDRS ….” Spinner).

3. On HELP page click “Current GFDRS download”.

4. Click “current GFDRS download” and save GFDRS.exe.

5. Run GFDRS.exe and follow on screen install instructions.

6. Start Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System from FDRS logo on desktop.

7. DO NOT log into Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System.

8. Bottom right of Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System click the RED Device selection icon.

9. Select device from device manager pop up, click ok (the icon will only go green & battery

voltage displayed if device connected to a car).

10. Minimise Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System.

2. USING Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System

1. Start/Ensure Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System is running, device selected and

minimised.

2. Login to ETIS.

3. On ETIS click the VEHICLE tab.

4. Between 1 – 4minutes the “connecting to GFDRS …..” spinner will change to the Global

Ford Diagnostic and Repair System logo (left of welcome “insert name here”).

5. Ensure car is connected & ignition on, click the “GET VIN” button.

6. VIN will be auto read from vehicle and populated into VIN box, the screen will be

changed to VEHICLE SUMMARY page.

7. The Network Test will auto start once GIVIS data is read, if the Network Test HASN’T

been run within 24hrs.

8. If Network Test HAS been run within 24hrs then option to rerun is offered or click

VEHICLE SOFTWARE tab.

9. After Network Test you can click the “HERE” or VEHICLE SOFTWARE” Tab.

10. Below Network Test the DTC box is displayed, after a Network Test any DTC’s or

historical DTC’s are displayed.

3. CHANGES & UPGRADES PAGE

1. On the left hand side of page all modules are displayed by relevant can-bus.

2. The colour coding is:

ORANGE – DTC present

GREEN – Module responded

GREY – module not responded

3. Hover over an orange module and DTC’s present are displayed, hover over green and

responded displayed and grey not responded.

4. Right hand side of screen displays a grid with the following –

4a. INSTALLED MODULES – All modules and available apps are displayed here, green dots

denote available apps.

4b. MULTI-MODULE APPS – PATS, any apps that cross modules.

4c. TOOLBOX – DATALOGGER, SELFTEST etc.

4d. ALL APPLICATIONS – every application for vehicle in alphabetical order.

4e. MEASUREMENT TOOLS – VMS tools etc.

5. Above the available apps grid, if Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System is not running on

your PC you will get a message informing you to download Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair

System and a link.

6. If Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System is running and you DO have a valid license there will

be no message and you can run applications, as long as a Network Test has been run within

24hrs, if not you can start it from this page (top left START button).

7. If Global Ford Diagnostic and Repair System is running and you do NOT have a valid license you

will be prompted to purchase a license through ETIS (Motorcraft licenses will not be

accepted).

7a. Click HERE to purchase license.

7b. Presented with license period options and prices.

7c. Choose period and click continue.

7d. Taken to shopping basket, displayed total items and cost, red X = remove items you do

not wish to purchase. Anything remaining in basket click “Purchase these items” .

7e. Taken to Barclays payment screen.

7f. License presented (once generated on invoice) will auto add to Global Ford Diagnosis and

Repair System, you can now return to Vehicle Software page and run ANY app for period of

license purchased.

4. ERROR MESSAGES

1. The following error means you do not have a valid license and need to purchase one.
