Today is a very special day for IRUSA as we hon-or those special people that we take for granted every me we go on our rides. These people are our Ride Leaders. It takes a lot of effort for them to work these rides so that all of us can enjoy and be at ease and know our rides are safe, organized and planned out. Once a year all of our Ride Leaders get together and go through a whole day of prac cing and working all the posi ons of a ride so we can be assured that all of our Ride Leaders will stay sharp and have the knowledge

Motorcycle VS Animal Part 2 During the spring me, deer congregate along side of roads to feed on grass and flowers, so keep your eyes open. Watch for dips in a road where the land is wet or a brook crosses the road. These are usually trails used by animals. Small animals motorcycle collisions with raccoons, foxes and the like can also be deadly. A fast mov-ing motorcycle with the brakes locked is a recipe for disaster. A glancing hit can veer a motorcycle off the road. Small animals are low and have a round body I N D E P E N D E N T

structure that doesn’t crush, causing the body to roll under an undercarriage. With a small animal hazard, slow down as much as possible. Rise slightly off the seat before reaching the obstacle. Shi weight to the rear by rolling on the thro le just before the front wheel makes contact. Upon contact with the small obstacle roll off the thro le so the rear wheel is not under power when it strikes the object. A er hi ng the animal see if it’s good to eat, put it in your saddle bag and bring it back to camp where I’ll cook it up.

Keep the sunny side up and ride safe.

There is 1 motorcycle to every 47 cars in California, so how many motorcycles does

that make in California?

Our last mee ng Anita had won the $25.00 gas card. It was their lucky day!

Our first ride this month went to a place by the ocean called Jalama Beach. What a beautiful place. Com-ing down the mountain over looking the water was spectacular! This place has a reputation for having the best burgers anywhere. Boy were their right. The canyons and mountain roads going there was just beautiful. This ride is a keeper so look for it next year.

Our second ride was after our Gen-

restaurant called Spruzzo’s. Great food and it has an ocean view on the patio.

With having short notice in changing this ride we had to go where the Ride Lead-ers were familiar with the route in order to keep this ride safe and be confidant of the route so not to get us lost or doing U-Turns!

When we get to the top of Stunt Canyon Rd. we will be stopping to get a look at some of the best views down to the ocean side and on the other side of the street we will have the view of the San Fernando Valley. So let’s saddle up and ride.

eral Meeting to the Ventura Harbor. This was a nice casual ride through Ventura. This is always a great destination. Beautiful mari-na and cool stores for shopping. Once we got all settled we all decided to eat some Italian! With the weather being so beautiful they had a big patio that accommodated everyone and what a great time we had and the food was good too!

Our third ride was an overnighter to Temecula where we rode to a little pie town called Julian. We rode through the San

Diego Mountains taking all the cool routes. Our overnight rides are always so much fun. We hung out by the pool and had

drinks and appetizers that IRUSA springs for on these kinds of trips. Just one of the perks for being a member.

Our fourth ride was to Big Bear for lunch at a place called Rocky’s Roadhouse. This is one of my favorite routes of all time. Beautiful back roads through Wrightwood and all the little towns on the mountain. Great ride! If you missed this one we are doing an overnighter to Big Bear in July.

To get an accurate reading when checking your air pressure on your tires you should always do this when the tire is cold. Taking a reading when the tire is hot will give you a higher reading due to the air expanding making your pressure lower when the tire cools down.

Waving his cash

Matt won the lunch drawing when we rode to Ventura Har-bor after our General Meeting.

Our very own co founder won the 50/50 drawing . Look at that big smile and that big wad of cash. Good going my love.

Today’s ride was suppose to go to Do-mingo’s Mexican restaurant in a little desert town called Boron. Needless to say the temperature in that area was going to be in the neighborhood of 110 degrees! So instead of riding in the heat where the rubber of our tires will be melting we decided to ride towards the ocean to keep a tad cooler.

At the beginning of the year we had a ride that I called, “4 Canyon Run” which took the 4 major canyons in the Malibu Mountains and ended up at an Italian
