Independence Day was observed in a meaningful and grand manner at
ChettinadTech on 15th August, 2019. Dr. S.Dharmalingam, Head, Department of
Management Studies hoisted the National Flag which was followed by a patriotic march
fast by the NSS Students Unit of ChettinadTech. A special address was delivered by the
Principal of the college. Further, to encourage the students and staff to commit
themselves towards Green and healthy nation, saplings were planted in the campus.

The Department of Civil Engineering inaugurated its
association on 07th August, 2019 with the name “Geo
Designers”. Mr. M. Pradeep Kumar, Consulting Engineer,
VLAND‟s Best Hub Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore was the chief guest
for the programme and gave a special talk on the topic
“Opportunities in Civil Engineering”.

The Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering inaugurated its association on 31st August,
2019. Mr. S. Dharaneeshwar, Junior Engineer, Infoview
Technologies Pvt Ltd., Chennai was the chief guest for the
programme and was part of a knowledge sharing session on
“System Programming with Overview of Python”.

The inaugural function of the association of EEE was
conducted on 9th August, 2019. Mr.K.Prabhu, Assistant
Executive Engineer, Operation & Maintenance, TANGEDCO,
Puliyur was the guest for the event and delivered an address
on “Recent Trends in Power Generation”.

A technical presentation was organized by the department on
the topic „Field Observation‟ for the final year civil students. All

UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN:
The department organized an awareness camp on “Water
Management System” on 20th September, 2019 as part of
UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN, under the guidance of Dr. K. P.
Senthilnathan, HOD, Civil Engineering and Dr. S.
Dharmalingam, HOD, Management Studies. During the
camp, our college identified 5 major interventional areas for
efficient Water Management System in Karur District. In
addition to that, our student conducted an awareness
campaign among the villagers about the importance of saving
as well as using water sparingly.

The Department of Science and Humanities organized a two -
orientation programme for the first year students on

with a view to prepare the first-year students for the future.

programme organized by the college on 23rd

2019. The programme was held between 03.00 pm and
04.45 pm in the academic departments in our college
campus. All the first-year students actively participated in the

Verbal Ability Test:
The Department of S&H conducted a Verbal Ability Test for
the first-year students to improve their language abilities.
There were a total of 3 rounds that were conducted on
16.09.2019, 18.09.2019 and 19.09.2019. 5 students
successfully cleared all the three rounds and emerged as
winners.

As part of skills enhancement activity, a Mathematical Quiz
Competition was conducted for the First-year students
on 17th September, 2019 by the Mathematics faculty

A three day Outbound – Hands on Training Programme was
given to the final year Management students from 13.09.2019
to 15.09.2019 at Yercaud Hills. The students were trained on
improving Leadership, Communication Skills, Change
Management, Motivation Skills and Teamwork by trainers
from Banana Tree, Salem.

A two-day Hands-on-Training Programme was offered to the
third year as well as final year ECE & CSE students on “Real

A massive awareness programme on “Say No to Plastic” was
organized by the social welfare clubs of the college on
13th August, 2019 with the objective of demonstrating the
hazards of pollution caused by plastic. Number of students
participated in the programme and took the resolution to
avoid the use of articles made with plastic.

A free camp for eye checkup was organized by Leo Club of
ChettinadTech at Government High school, Vaangal
on 11th August, 2019. A number of civilians participated in
the camp and were benefitted.

Wildlife Conservation Week:
Wildlife Conservation Week was observed by the college on
29th August, 2019 in the campus. As part of this, events such
as Quiz, Drawing and speech competitions were conducted
with Wildlife Conservation as the theme. The events were
conducted by the Leo Club of our college and number of
students participated and expressed their concern towards
wildlife preservation.

Reaching out to Special Children:
The Leo Club of ChettinadTech extended helping hands to
Sakthi School for Special children, Sanapiratti, Karur on
18th August, 2019. Lion Mr. Shankar, Lion Mr. Williams and
Lion Mr. Sivasankar of Lions club, Karur were the invited
guests for the programme. 22 student volunteers and alumni
of our college spent a whole day with the special children in
the school, shared lunch with them and sponsored rice bag,
cereals, biscuits and notebook to the special children. The
event was organized with a view to inculcate social values
and responsibilities in the mind of our students.

September, 2019 at PST Schooling at KMA resorts,

actively participated in the event and 4 students were

Yoga practice session:
Social Welfare Clubs of ChettinadTech jointly organized a
Yoga practice session under the name “Twin Heart
Meditation” on 05th September, 2019 for the students and
faculty members. Yoga Master from Karur Pranic Healing
Centre came to our college and refreshed the psyche and
physic of more than 150 students and 20 faculty members
with different yoga exercises.
Blood Donation Camp:
A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the Social Welfare
Clubs of ChettinadTech in association with Lions Club of Karur
Host as well as Government Hospital, Karur on 30th
August,
2019 in the college campus. In the camp, many students and
staff of our college donated blood, besides taking primary
health checkup.

Debate:
The Rotaract Club of ChettinadTech conducted a Debate on
"Environmental Issues" for the first-year students
on September 18, 2019 with a view to increase their social
awareness. Many students participated and shared their views
as well as concerns on environmental issues and suggested
tangible solutions.

The Department of Science and Humanities arranged an
industrial visit to Salem Aavin Cooperative Milk Society for
the first year students of our college. The visit to the industry
was made on 28th September, 2019 and a total number of
150 students visited the company under the guidance of 9
faculty members

Mr. K. Sunil Prasad of I ECE participated in Poetry Reciting Competition-2019 organized by Murasoli Arakattalai, Karur on 17th August 2019 and won a Cash Prize of Rs.2000/-.

Manja, Director-DRDO and Dr. Anand, Asso. prof, IISER- Pune for his poster based on the theme “Advanced Functional Nanomaterials for Wearable Electronic Applications” at the 2nd National Conference on Advanced Materials for Health Energy and Environment (AMHEE-2019) held on 06th, 07th September, 2019.

Four students participated in a two-day workshop on “Block Chain Technology” held at Kongunadu College of Engineering and Technology, Trichy from 13th September, 2019 and 14th September, 2019.

Six faculty members attended a Faculty Training Programme on “Capacity Building for Teachers” at Sri Sarada Niketan College, Karur. The training programme was organized by Rotary Club of Karur Angels on 07th September, 2019.

Prof. R. Sivamurugan, Assoc. Prof. / Physics & Head, Science and Humanities participated in a one-day National Workshop on “E-Learning and MOOCs in Higher Education” at Anna University, Chennai on 14th September, 2019. The programme was organized by Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre of MHRD SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi.

Dr. C. Muthukumar, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering successfully completed his Ph.D Viva Voce Examination on 13th August, 2019 under Anna University, Chennai. His area of Doctoral study was “Investigations on Mechanical and Thermal Behaviour Analysis of COCCINIA INDICA Fiber Composites” and the Viva Voce Examination was held at Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai.
