• Community people are habituated to use open space (field located in front of Satya Bharti school) for toilet purpose and polluting the environment of school and village. Next generation studying at our schools has realised the adverse impact of using open space for the same not only on our environment but also it effects our health. We felt it a first hand negative impression of our village.

We ‘Felt’:

Page 6: Ind eng-654-ppt

• ‘Promoting of using toilets at every home rather than using the open space’, we imagined and make the people imagine the same.

• Aware the community people on benefits of using toilets.

• Make the community responsible of prohibiting to use open space in future for toilet by involving them to clean the field (located in front of the school and earlier being used for toilet) and prepare it as a playground for the village kids.

We ‘Imagined’:

Page 7: Ind eng-654-ppt

• Organised a meeting with community people to make them understand about the initiative of Satya Bharti School.

• Organised the rally against the identified issue.

• Make them aware about benefits of using toilets rather than doing it in open space.

• Door to door counselling and discussion with villagers

• Conducted Street play, sang motivational songs, slogans with prepared ply cards, poster and banners.

We ‘Did’:

Page 8: Ind eng-654-ppt

• Community people have understood the benefits of using toilets at homes rather than using the open space located in front of Satyabharti school.

• Community members involved and contributed their efforts to clean the field located in front of our school.

• All of the participants in our joy for giving campaign have signed on the common memorandum and took oath to use toilets and support eco-friendly environment.

Impact on Community:

Page 9: Ind eng-654-ppt

• Understand the felt need of community and work on it which gives new learning to them .

• Children feel proud to be a part of this campaign and become change agents in the community.

• Staff members gained the confidence to deal with community problems which is totally different from daily class room teaching.

• They are curious to do such activity in near future and willing to do something different from their daily routine work.

Impact on Us:

Experience of Community Members & Teachers:

• Community members:

- ”aaj hamare bachho ne ankhe khol diya, hum apne gaon ke prati aur apne prati bahut galat kar rahe the. Aaj se hum apne gharo main hi sauch karenge aur school ke samne wala field ko bachhon ke khelne ke liye khali chhod denge.”

Anganwadi worker• Teachers:

- ”Hame gaon main ye change lane ke liye, bahut mahnat karna pada. Aur aaj hame ye dekh ke khushi milti hai ki log gharon main hi sauch karte hain, aur bahar ka watavaran saaf rakhte hain. Hame ye asha hai ki log hamesha yese hi karen”
