The village Bari Khas, situated 33 km. from Shahjahanpur. Maximum people of this village are illiterate. It is a backward and poor village due to having a number of social, economical, educational, intoxication types of problems. Among them the problem of intoxication is seriously dangerous for the villagers. Along with it we have been also observing its consequences since a long time in our surrounding, so we selected this problem to remove it from the root.

•.Generally in village areas there may be many problems and their solution is also must. But the problem of intoxication directly affects our body, therefore its removal was compulsory as soon as possible.• Actually intoxication was a big issue and it had many types. But keeping in mind the limitation of time of one week we were subjected to choose only smoking and use of tobacco, pan masala type intoxication problems because these sweet poisons directly affects the lungs and creates mouth cancer.• Maximum people of this village were free user of these harmful things. Even some children were also in the grip of this sweet poison.• We decided to aware the villagers of Bari Khas through some interesting and beneficial activities for them .

# To aware the people in limited time of one week, we decided to organize meetings, rallies, role plays by using hand made posters, hand bills, banners and self prepared slogans.# We also decided to involve each and every villager in our campaign.# Old people will be our main focus area. # A committee for smoking and tobacco prevention was also to be formed

# Ralley was our first step, in which enthusiastic students of Satya Bharti spreading awareness through banners, hand outs and raising slogans like, “Gutkha jo tum khaoge, pal pal mout bulaoge”, “Cheto jago jao thahar, tambacoo hai meetha jahar” etc.# Students were distributing hand outs among the villagers during rally having the consequences of the these types of sweet poison. # Sticking of hand made posters on the walls of village was our next step.# Burning of these poisons before the people was also a part of the ralliy.

Students played a very interesting and educative role play having a lot of fun among the villagers. The title of the role play was “Jisne kiya nasha, jeevan uska fansa.”

• The most important activity of our campaign was the boycott of bidi, cigrates, gutkha , tobacco by the villagers after getting the inspiration from our efforts.• We burned all these boycotted things before the villagers. • Villagers also took an oath not to touch these things in future again. • The oath was also recorded by our students.

# Certainly the above steps were very helpful to achieve our target of awareness, but the main task was to maintain its continuity. For it we formed a committee of villagers along with some students and teacher of Satya Bharti too. The committee will have to observe seriously these types of people and will effort to prevent this problem. # For the continuity of this campaign the committee has taken an oath till the removal of this problem.# A health camp will also be held in the village in coming December.
