Mission Statement

To declare the Gospel which brings willing hearts to a sav-ing faith in Christ Jesus and

causes a life of Christ likeness through Worship,

Ministry, Evangelism, Teaching, and Fellowship.

Th en the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’” And he added, “Th ese are the true words of God.” At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:9-10 (NIV)

Th e astounding news that the angel delivered to John while in exile on the Isle of Patmos was too magnifi cent in his ears. Th e marriage supper of the Lamb, the conversion of his countrymen, the Jews, caused him to be struck with awe and amazement at the glory and majesty not only of the angels mes-sage; but the angel himself. He forgot so quickly in the declaration of truth and in the presence of the deliverer of that declaration that worship is due only to God and Him alone.

Th e angel, although delivering a profound message, and the apostle were united in the same bond of relationship; they both were servants of the Living God and both had the testimony of Jesus Christ. All who have that testimony are not to be bowed to no matter how revelatory and powerful the message; because all, both man and angels, of like position in Jesus Christ are to Worship God.

Th e angel emphatically told John, in other words that there is no prayer, praise, adoration, and worship due to anyone other than God on man nor angel is worthy of that exalted position. Th e angel was, John was, and all believers are to Worship God.

Th roughout Scripture, beginning in the Old Testament fl owing into the New Testament, we are ad-monished to Worship God:• For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

• KJV (Exodus 34:14) God’s very name is Jealous meaning He will have no rival, competitor, nor cor-rival in worship.

• Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an off ering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. NIV (Psalm 96:8-9)

• Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Th en saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Th ou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. KJV (Matthew 4:8-10)

The P

ast, The Present, The Future

Pastor Barbara DeSue

Author: Th e author of the Book of Genesis is not identifi ed. Traditionally, the author has always assumed to have been Moses. Th ere is no conclusive reason to deny the Mosaic authorship of Genesis.

Date of Writing: Th e Book of Genesis does not state when it was written. Th e date of authorship is likely between 1440 and 1400 B.C., between the time Mo-ses led the Israelites out of Egypt and his death.

Purpose of Writing: Th e Book of Genesis has sometimes been called the “seed-plot” of the entire Bible. Most of the major doc-trines in the Bible are introduced in “seed” form in the Book of Genesis. Along with the fall of man, God’s promise of salvation or redemption is recorded (Genesis 3:15). Th e doctrines of creation, one man and one woman in matrimony before God, imputation of sin, justifi cation, atone-ment, depravity, wrath, grace, sovereignty, responsibility, and many more are all ad-dressed in this book of origins called Gen-esis.

Many of the great questions of life are an-swered in Genesis. (1) Where did I come from? (God created us - Genesis 1:1) (2) Why am I here? (We are here to have a relationship with God - Genesis 15:6) (3) Where am I going? (We have a destina-

tion after death - Genesis 25:8). Genesis appeals to the scientist, the historian, the theologian, the housewife, the farmer, the traveler, the man or woman of God and all mankind. It is a fi tting beginning for God’s story of His plan for mankind, the Bible.

Key Verses: Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 3:15, “And I will put enmity be-tween you and the woman, and between your off spring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”Genesis 12:2-3, “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Genesis 50:20, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to ac-complish what is now being done, the sav-ing of many lives.”

Brief Summary: Th e Book of Genesis can be divided into two sections: Primitive History and Patriarchal History. Primitive history records (1) Creation (Genesis chap-ters 1-2); (2) Creation of Adam (Genesis chapters 1-3) (2) the Fall of man (Genesis

chapters 3-5); (3) the Noah and the Flood (Genesis chapters 4-9); and (4) the disper-sion (Genesis chapters 10-11). Patriarchal history records the lives of great men: (1) Abraham (Genesis 12-25:8); (2) Isaac (Genesis 21:1-35-29); (3) Jacob (Genesis 25:21-50:14); and (4) Joseph (Genesis 30:22-50:26).

God created a universe that was good and free from sin. God created human-ity to have a personal relationship with Him. Adam and Eve sinned and thereby brought evil and death into the world. Evil increased steadily in the world until there was only one family in which God found anything good. God sent the Flood to wipe out evil, but delivered Noah and his family along with the animals in the Ark. After the Flood, humanity began again to multi-ply and spread throughout the world.

God chose Abraham, through whom He would create a chosen people and eventu-ally the promised Messiah, Who is Jesus the Christ. Th e chosen line was passed on to Abraham’s son Isaac, and then to Isaac’s son Jacob. God changed Jacob’s name to Israel, and his twelve sons became the an-cestors of the twelve tribes of Israel. In His sovereignty, God had Jacob’s son Joseph sent to Egypt by the disgraceful actions of Joseph’s brothers. Th is act, intended for evil by the brothers, was intended for

God is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Simply, no one can be a true worshipper of God unless they are born again by faith in Christ Jesus and believe in, live in, walk in, trust in, and have faith in truth. Jesus told a Samaritan woman at a well that worship of God was not a place nor a natural oc-currence, but “A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers. God is a Spirit (a spiritual Be-ing) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality). AMP (John 4:23-24)

True worship of God is spiritual, not natural; in truth and reality, not in religion, nor rituals. True worship is a matter of a changed

heart by faith in Jesus. True worship comes from the heart of man with a strong foundation in truth. God is looking for those who will worship Him the way He has designed, not man’s way, but His way. One must have the testimony of Jesus Christ in order to Worship Him and receive the blessings bestowed upon true wor-shippers. One blessing is the gift of the Holy Spirit who guides us, leads us, teaches us, directs us into true worship.

Worship is a spiritual principle which comes from a renewed heart in Christ Jesus and once that heart is transformed one is then able and willing to bow in humble submission, reverence and obedi-ence to a loving, yet Holy God. Jesus Christ Himself reveals that God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.

good by God and eventually resulted in Jacob and his family being saved from a devastating famine by Joseph, who had risen to great power in Egypt.

Foreshadowings: Many New Testament themes have their roots in Genesis. Jesus Christ is the Seed of the woman who will destroy Satan’s power (Gen. 3:15). As with Joseph, God’s plan for the good of mankind through the sacrifi ce of His Son was intended for good, even though those who crucifi ed Jesus intended it for evil. Noah and his family are the fi rst of many rem-nants pictured in the Bible. Despite overwhelm-ing odds and diffi cult circumstances, God always preserves a remnant of the faithful for Himself. Th e remnant of Israelites returned to Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity; God preserved a remnant through all the persecutions described in Isaiah and Jeremiah; a remnant of 7000 priests were hidden from the wrath of Jezebel; God promises that a remnant of Jews will one day embrace their true Messiah (Romans 11). Th e faith displayed by Abraham would be the gift of God and the basis of salvation for both Jew and Gen-tile (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 11).

Practical Application: Th e overriding theme of Genesis is God’s eternal existence and His creation of the world. Th ere is no eff ort on the part of the author to defend the existence of God; he simply states that God is, always was, and always will be, almighty over all. In the same way, we have confi -dence in the truths of Genesis, despite the claims of those who would deny them. All people, regardless of culture, na-tionality or language, are accountable to the Creator. But because of sin, introduced into the world at the Fall, we are separated from Him. But through one small nation, Israel, God’s redemptive plan for mankind was revealed and made available to all. We rejoice in that plan.

God created the universe, the earth, and every living being. We can trust Him to handle the concerns in our lives. God can take a hopeless situation, such as Abraham and Sarah being childless, and do amazing things if we will simply trust and obey. Terrible and unjust things may happen in our lives, as with Joseph, but God will always bring about a greater good if we have faith in Him and His sovereign plan. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his pur-pose” (Romans 8:28).

At some point, people who become debt-free decide that enough is enough. Th eir old lifestyle wasn’t working, and they’re ready to make some seri-ous changes. It’s like they have a personality change, but that’s not what really happens. All they are doing is rediscovering aspects of their personality that have always been there.

So what are some of these traits of people who get debt-free?

Th ey are wise. People who de-cide to ditch debt for good realize that debt isn’t a tool. While their FICO score may go up, their net

worth goes down. Th ey treat debt like it’s a skin disease, which isn’t a bad idea. Don’t you wish you could wipe away debt with a little Benadryl cream?

Th ey are patient. Someone who really wants out of debt can walk right pass the shoe aisle or the fl at-screen TV aisle without blinking. Why? Because they know all of that stuff can wait; im-pulsive and impatient purchases are debt’s best friend.

Th ey are con dent. People who are getting out of debt don’t care what others think. You know you’re on the right track when your broke friends are making fun of you. Getting out of debt can require drastic lifestyle changes, which means you’ll never succeed if you aren’t mentally prepared and confi dent in your decision to fi nd fi nancial peace.

Th ey are goal-driven. Getting out of debt is a goal in itself, so of course people who want to get out of debt are goal-oriented. But the catch here is that these people do more than just set goals—they map out how they plan to get there.

Th ey are responsible. Getting out of debt takes a sense of re-sponsibility and maturity; two traits that match up well with pa-tience. Maturity has nothing to do with age. Some 50 year olds still treat money the same way they did when they were 20 year old. Th ey just have more of it now. When you’re responsible, you want to get out of debt as fast as possible so you can begin saving, putting money into a college fund, investing, and paying off the mortgage early.

Th ey are not materialistic. Becoming debt-free isn’t about stocking a garage full of cars and living in an eight-bedroom house. Th e purpose is to change your family tree for generations to come, helping others along the way. Materialism can aff ect any of us, rich or poor. It’s all about how much importance we place on stuff .

Th ey are willing to make sacri ces. Eating out; cable; going to movies every week; these are the types of things that might have to go while you’re getting out of debt. But keep in mind: budget cuts are just temporary. When you’re debt-free, you can begin slowly adding those things back into your lifestyle.

In recent news the Pentagon concluded a probe about poor handling of potentially lethal specimens of plague and an-thrax bacteria.

Plague is caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis. Hu-mans can contract plague after bites by rodent fl eas carrying this bacteria.

During the Justinian Plague which occurred during the reign of the 6th century Byzantine emperor Justian I around 541 AD plague outbreaks occurred killing millions of people in the Mediterranean basin.

Th e “Black Death” or Great Plague epidemic of the mid 1300s. started in China and spread through Europe during the reign of emperor Constantinople. Fatalities numbered in the millions.

During the third plague pandemic of 1890s it was observed that the disease appeared to be spread along port cities via steam ships carrying infected rats.

Plague was reported during the Vietnam war in the 1960s.

Plague is very infectious, and kills. It has also been used as a very eff ective weapon of biologic warfare.

Plague is akin to sin. Plague kills. Sin kills.

Antibiotics can cure plague before it kills.

Th e redemption from sin can only be found in Christ.

Th e wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:7

Only the blood of Christ is suffi cient to atone for our sins. No other is good enough in God’s eyes.

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. Exodus 12:13 Vitalis Unaeze

H e a l t h y Y o u ! PLAGUE

If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his command-ments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyp-tians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee. KJV (Exodus 15:26)

God revealed Himself to Israel as the One who healeth His people, Jehovah Rapha, God our Healer. Th is contin-ued healing was contingent upon the people following His commands by:• Diligently hearkening to His voice: listening with intense attention, inter-est, and agreement • Doing what is right in His sight: willingly committing to live and walk according to God’s righteous stan-dards• Giving ear to His commandments: paying close attention with an ear to hear His precepts, statues, ordinances, wisdom

• Keeping all of His statues: heeding and observing each one, not taking lightly any one, of His decrees; hold-ing steadfastly without wavering in the heart and mind to His good word

Th ere comes with obedience to hearkening, doing, giving, keeping of God’s Word a powerful promise, “I

will put none on these diseases upon you that were put upon the Egyp-tians.” Th e reason being that you are being obedi-

ent and preserved whole by the Lord Himself who is the Healer; obedience also means we are at peace with God. Th at alone relieves confusion of mind, illness of body, and fi lthiness of spirit. Th e miracle of obedience to God is that healing, both physically and mor-ally, is His promise to His people.

Psalm 103:3; 147:3 further reinforces God’s promise of healing for obedi-ence by declaring, He forgives iniqui-ties, heals all diseases; heals broken hearts and binds up wounds. Even when you are wounded from life’s tri-als, challenges, disappointments, and failures, God can and will heal you.

What then today, one would ask, as we put our trust in Jesus as the Savior of our lives? How is this relevant to believers in Christ Jesus today? “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Pe-ter 2:24) By the very wounds of Jesus Christ, for those who believe in Him and obey God’s word, we are healed.

None of these diseases on me is the declaration of the child of God based on the Word of God.

None on Me…

will put none on

According to Christian Apologetics & Research Min-istry; this creed arose out of the early Western church and should be thought of as a summary of the Apos-tles’ teaching rather than directly attributable to them. Originally it was essentially a baptismal confession and had several variations. Th e form used today dates from the eighth century and reads as follows:

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suff ered under Pontius Pilate, was crucifi ed, died and was buried and He descended to the dead.

On the third day He rose again and sitteth at the right hand of the Father, From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen” *Catholic meaning the universal church.
