In 2011, the Ateneo School of Government received a grant from the
Rockefeller Foundation to undertake the “Catalyzing New Mobility in
Metro Manila” project which is eventually known as “Inclusive
Mobility”. After 12 months, the project has developed new platform for
engaging various communities, organizations, agencies, and individuals
and served as an integrator and awareness-raiser on critical but
unheralded innovations in Metro Manila. The project also established
robust resource center on the web and has begun a mind shift from
the narrow view of the problem as “traffic” to a larger view of the
problem as “mobility”, with special emphasis on the accessibility of the
poor and vulnerable to livelihood, work, public services, and other
activities and centers.
Starting June 2013, the Rockefeller Foundation has provided support for
the Ateneo School of Government to bring the Inclusive Mobility
Project into a more established footing and set onto a sustainable
trajectory. ASoG will collaborate and partner with appropriate groups
(local and international) with similar initiatives as need arises to
successfully implement the following project activities and deliverables:
Organize Inclusive Mobility Network;
Conduct a strategic planning exercise to develop a roadmap to
the institutional sustainability of the Project.
Design and prototype competency-oriented training courses on
inclusive mobility and related themes (e.g., sustainable
transport) for future catalysts including public officials and
community leaders at the Ateneo School of Government;
Develop communication materials to educate the public on
inclusive mobility (using traditional and social media); and,
Conduct research on Transport Governance.
The project will also use the next 12 months to continue policy
research and advocacy for inclusive mobility –using the advocacy and
the research to inform and shape the design and approaches to
accomplishing the above goals.
