Welcome Message

The Institute for Infrastructure Engineering and Sustainable Management (IIESM),Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has over the years been instrumental inproviding a platform for several collaboration research program and publicationsinvolving all Civil Engineering disciplines. IIESM has so far focused on researchwith the aims to solve infrastructure and environmental engineering problems witha more sustainable way.

IIESM in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia; MahatmaGandhi University, India and BRE Centre for Innovative Construction Materials,UK are organizing a 3-day “International Civil and Infrastructure EngineeringConference 2014, (InCIEC 2014)”. The conference is supported by IEEE MalaysiaIE/IA Joint Chapter dated from 28th September to 1st October 2014 in KotaKinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.

It is hoped that InCIEC 2014 will be a useful platform for researchers to presenttheir findings in the areas of multidisciplinary related to civil engineering issuesemphasizes on concrete waste and earthquake engineering, construction projectmanagement, fluvial and river engineering dynamics, geotechnical engineering,innovative construction materials and structures, micro and nanotechnology inconstruction and civil engineering, sustainable environment, timber engineering andtransportation systems, infrastructure and intelligent transport. Besides, this con-ference is also a platform for researchers to establish new interfaces, compare thefindings, benchmark their work, exchange views, and widen the scope and rangeof their research activities. The conference is also looking forward to new peers indiverse areas of expertise.

On behalf of the organising committee we would like to take this opportunity toexpress our gratitude to all reviewers and participants for their support to ensure thesuccess of this event. We also would like to thank all the authors, session chair-persons, and delegates for the great support and contribution given. About IIESM

The Institute for Infrastructure Engineering and Sustainable Management (IIESM)was officially approved by the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia as anInstitute on the 7th of January 2009. The formation of this Institute would furtherexpedite research and publication activities at the university. IIESM focuses onresearch in all civil engineering disciplines that enlighten a broader scope inresearch and engineering education. Our aim is to solve infrastructure and envi-ronmental engineering problems in a more sustainable way and introduce new state-of-the-art technology.It is a merger of 10 research excellence centres which are:

1. Timber Engineering Research Centre (TEReC)2. Concrete Waste Engineering and Earthquake Research Centre (CWE2C)3. Flood Management and Intelligence Development Centre (FloodMind)4. About the Editors

Dr. Rohana Hassan is a Head of Research (Scienceand Technology) at Research Management Unit(RMI), Universiti TeknologiMARA (UiTM),Malaysia.Currently, she also works as Senior Lecturer atFaculty of Civil Engineering, UiTM and actively doingresearch in the field of fracture and impact energy forbuilding material, timber engineering, engineered woodproduct, timber design, and composites materials. Thus,she has become a regular invited speaker in the samefield and acted as the Chairman for InCIEC 2013 and2014 and Technical Program Chair for various CivilEngineering conferences. In addition, she is one of the

Editors for InCIEC 2013. Her research papers and journals have been publishedlocally and internationally. And she has received numerous awards through herresearch products.

Dr. Marina Yusoff is the fellow researcher andCoordinator of Quality and Standard of Institute forInfrastructure Engineering and Sustainability Manage-ment, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Senior Lecturerof Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences,Universiti Teknologi MARA. She holds a PhD inInformation Technology and Quantitative Sciences(Intelligent System) from Universiti TeknologiMARA. She previously worked as a senior executiveof Information Technology in SIRIM Berhad, Malaysia.She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer

Science from the University of Science Malaysia, and Master of Science in Infor-mation Technology from Universiti Teknologi MARA. She is currently an activeresearcher in floods management, graphology, image processing, and developedmany intelligent systems. Dr. Anizahyati Alisibramulisi worked with JuruteraPerunding Zaaba before joining Universiti TeknologiMARA (UiTM) in 2001. She holds a Bachelor Degreein Civil Engineering from UiTM, Master in StructuralEngineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia(UTM) and PhD in Structural Engineering fromNorwegian University of Science and Technology(NTNU), Norway. At the moment, she is working as aLecturer at Faculty of Civil Engineering, UiTM. She isalso a Senior Member of Universal Association ofCivil, Structural and Environmental Engineers(UASCE) United States, Member of Board of Engi-

neers Malaysia (BEM), Graduate Member of Institute of Engineers Malaysia(IEM), Member of Malaysian Structural Steel Association (MSSA), HonoraryTreasurer of Concrete Society of Malaysia (CSM), and Fellow Researcher ofInstitute for Infrastructure Engineering and Sustainable Management (IIESM)Malaysia. She has published a few articles, books, and proceedings locally andinternationally. In addition, she has also involved as Technical Program Chair forvarious IEEE conferences. Her interest areas are in through process modeling,welded aluminum, steel, concrete, corrosion, and structural engineering.

Dr. Norliyati Mohd Amin has been working as alecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), ShahAlam Malaysia for 12 years. She completed her PhDfrom Kyushu University Japan in 2011. She receivedher Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structure)from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), ShahAlam, Malaysia in 2007 and obtained her BEng(Civil Engineering) from Kyushu University in 1999.Her research interest includes computational mechan-ics, model analysis, dynamic analysis, model orderreduction, and seismic isolation system. Currently,she has been appointed as Fellow at Institute Infra-

structure Engineering and Sustainable Management (IIESM), UiTM, Shah Alam,Malaysia.

Dr. Zulhabri Ismail is currently attached to the Fac-ulty of Architecture Planning and Surveying (FSPU),Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Dr. Zulhabriholds Doctor of Philosophy in Built Environment(Construction Law). Dr. Zulhabri is a Member of theChartered Institute of Arbitrators United Kingdom andInstitution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Dr.Zulhabri is the Head of Legal Aspects in Built Envi-ronment Initiative Group has published more than 60papers in which most of them are indexed publications.Dr. Zulhabri is one of the UiTM’s vanguard researcherswith cumulative of more than RM1.2 M worth of

research grant, more than 20 research projects andmore than 20 postgraduate studentsunder his research supervision. Dr. Zulhabri is one of a few being selected to sit as apanel of assessors for Society of Construction Law EssayWriting Competition for theVincent Powell Smith Prize (Malaysia). He is a Chairman/Technical Program Chair/Advisory Committee/Editorial Review Board for more than 20 indexed/non-indexedconferences and more than 15 journals.
