Pagosa Springs: Pete and Alta - Book your rooms by phone be-fore Sunday. After that the rooms will be available to the public. You must call for the better rate. We have 13 registered so far. 2009 Convention: Hal - Walt is returning from Cancun. The convention is over. Thanks to everyone that helped, it couldn’t have happened without your help. The Executive board considers the convention a success. Participation in the events was a little lower because there were so many activities available in the Pikes Peak area. The final accounting is being completed, but the con-vention completed with a small profit. The raffle car was given away to an attending convention person from Tempe, but they were on their way home when their name was drawn. The cyber cart was given away to someone in Pilot TX. The proceeds from the cart and ice cream donations will go to the FCOA and NCCC scholarship funds. Five records were broken at the drag strip in Denver at altitude. That was quite unexpected. CSCC received the Clary award and the 100% participation award. Trash Pickup: Ed - 15 volunteers picked up trash in 1 hour and had breakfast at Denny’s. The weather was very nice. /CCC Updates: Walt - 44% of the volunteers were from the CSCC club. Profit from merchandise sales will be distributed based on volunteers. See the end of the newsletter for informa-tion about upcoming NCCC events, or check the website. The Pueblo club will be re-running the convention gimmick rally for practice. Fall Autocross: Wayne - Our fall autocross will take place on October 4th at PPIR. Registration will be from 7-8:30. Drivers meeting at 8:45. $35 per person per session. There will be a morning and afternoon session. Volunteer signup sheets were passed around. We voted in favor of the $1200 track cost. Sno*Flakes Ralley: Rik - November 8th.

/ew club meeting location
We are looking for a new location to hold our monthly club meet-ings. Hal has offered a location to use as long as we want at the Springs funeral Services. We voted to donate $250 to the Inn at Garden Plaza for allow us to hold meetings there this year. Loca-tions should hold at least 100 people with chairs and four tables. It should be close to major roads and be centrally located. It must be available on the first Thursday of the month. Donations are possible, although we would like to keep the cost down. If you know of a location please contact an officer or board member. Home Coming: Hal - Sometimes the homecoming events are hard to fill. For this reason we will allow non-club members to participate, but they will be required to cover insurance them-selves. Our club insurance only covers club members. We will be publishing some guidelines to protect your cars during these events, like towels to sit on, and seat protection. Christmas Party: Diana - Diana will evaluate the three options for Christmas party dates and locations. The choices are Dec 18th at Giuseppe's, Dec 12th at Crown Plaza ($25), and Airplane (Solo’s) on Dec 12th ($19).
Corvette Upgrades:
• Jim Kelly just got a 93. • Craig got Killer B wheels from Larry.

CSCC Picnic
Or
Is There Really A View Behind That Fog?
As sure as Murphy’s Law exists the first lousy weather in a month moved in on the morning of the Colorado Springs Corvette Club’s annual picnic. Gwenda and I arrived at the Crystal Park Road gate only to see the pavement disappear into a thick fog. Several members, Bolands, Strauchs, Niles, and Haverkorns, and Gwenda, headed on up the mountain to make sure everyone including the caterer knew the parking locations. By the time they reached the top visibility was somewhere around 10-15 feet and unless a person was really familiar with the area finding the lodge or parking was impossible. Apparently good clean living pays off and within an hour the clouds lifted, the sun peeked through and what could have been slightly depressing weather turned into a pleasant afternoon. As everyone arrived Charlie Boland shuttled people to the lodge for a great afternoon of social-izing and eats. By departure time the clouds lifted and the drive down the mountain provided a good view of the road CSCC raced up some 40 years ago. If you didn’t attend ask someone how many turns there are in six miles. I bet they will say “A whole bunch!” Thanks to all those who helped make it a fun day. Larry Valentine.
Club member photos. If I took a photo at the NCCC convention and you are interested in getting a high quality copy please contact me. I photo-graphed the high speed autocross, awards, car show, and few other things. I’m giving a DVD to Rik for the web posting, but they will be small lower quality. Rob Miskowitch ([email protected])
