Informatica Data Quality IntegrationThis chapter includes the following topics:

¨ Overview, 1

¨ Integration Installers, 2

¨ Importing Objects to PowerCenter, 2

¨ Changes to Data Quality Transformations, 2

¨ Concurrent Installations of the Integration Plug-in, 3

OverviewInformatica 9.0.1 users can export mapplets and mappings from the Model repository to the PowerCenterrepository and to the file system in XML form. If you are a PowerCenter user, you can add the exported mappletsto mappings and configure the mappings in sessions.

If the objects you export to the PowerCenter repository contain data quality transformations, you must verify thatthe Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Integration Plug-in for PowerCenter is installed on the PowerCenter system.

The following PowerCenter versions support data quality objects in Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1:

¨ PowerCenter 9.0.1

¨ PowerCenter 8.6.1 HotFix 11

¨ PowerCenter 8.6 HotFix 11

PowerCenter 8.6 and 8.6.1 users must install the Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Integration Plug-in to use dataquality mappings and mapplets exported from the 9.0.1 Model repository. PowerCenter 9.0.1 users do not need toinstall the plug-in, as the PowerCenter 9.0.1 installation includes the Integration files.

Note: PowerCenter 9.0 does not support mapplets and mappings created in Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1.PowerCenter 9.0 users can upgrade to PowerCenter 9.0.1 to run mapplets and mappings created in InformaticaData Quality 9.0.1.

1

Integration InstallersThe plug-in has Client and Server installers.

Run the Client installer on the PowerCenter Client machine to view mapplets and mappings and add them tosessions. Run the Server installer on the PowerCenter Integration Service machine to run the sessions inworkflows.

Installing Reference DataIf a deployed mapplet or mapping reads reference data files, install the reference data files on the PowerCenterIntegration Service machine.

You can use Informatica Developer to export reference table data from the Model repository and staging areawhen you export a mapplet or mapping. You can also run the Data Quality 9.0.1 Content Installer to add referencetable data to the PowerCenter machine. You must run the Content Installer to add address reference data files oridentity population data files to the PowerCenter machine.

Importing Objects to PowerCenterUse Informatica Developer to export objects such as mapplets and mappings from the Informatica 9.0.1 Modelrepository. Use the PowerCenter Repository Manager to import XML objects to the PowerCenter repository.

¨ For information about exporting objects from the Informatica 9.0.1 Model repository, see the InformaticaDeveloper User Guide.

¨ For information about importing objects to the PowerCenter repository, see the PowerCenter RepositoryGuide.

Changes to Data Quality TransformationsWhen you import a data quality mapplet or mapping from the Model repository to the PowerCenter repository, thedata quality transformations change.

All data quality transformations created in the Developer tool appear with the digit 9 added to their icons inPowerCenter Designer.

Multi-Instance TransformationsYou can define multiple data transformation strategies within each of the following transformations in theDeveloper tool, with each strategy using a unique set of input and output ports:

Case, Decision, Key Generator, Labeler, Match, Merge, Parser, Standardizer

These are multi-instance transformations. When you import a mapplet or mapping that contains a multi-instancetransformation, each strategy converts to a separate transformation.

2 Chapter 1: Informatica Data Quality Integration

Conversion to MappletsThe following transformations can convert to mapplets when imported to the PowerCenter repository:

¨ Consolidation

¨ Key Generator

¨ Match

When you import a mapping that contains one or more of these transformations, PowerCenter converts eachtransformation to a mapplet that contains the expanded configuration.

When you import a mapplet that contains one or more of these transformations, PowerCenter expands theconfiguration of each transformation into multiple transformations and adds Expression transformations tocomplete the transformation logic.

Concurrent Installations of the Integration Plug-inThe Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Integration Plug-in enables PowerCenter to run sessions that contain objectscreated in Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 or 9.0. It does not enable PowerCenter to run sessions that containobjects that were created in older versions of Informatica Data Quality.

PowerCenter 9.0 and 9.0.1 install with the Informatica Data Quality 9.0 and 9.0.1 Integration application files. Ifyou are using PowerCenter 8.6 or 8.6.1, you must manually install the 9.0.1 Integration plug-in for yourPowerCenter version.

Prior to Informatica Data Quality 9.0, the most recent version of Informatica Data Quality and the Integration Plug-in is 8.6.2. The Informatica Data Quality 8.6.2 Integration Plug-in can run mapplets created in Informatica DataQuality 8.6.2, 8.6.1, and 8.6. If your PowerCenter repository contains objects created in Informatica Data Quality 8.6.2, 8.6.1, or 8.6 and you upgrade PowerCenter to version 9.0.1, you must perform a fresh install the InformaticaData Quality 8.6.2 Integration Plug-in. Obtain the latest 8.6.2 Integration Plug-in installers from Informatica.

The Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Integration Plug-in does not permit you to edit data quality mapplets ormappings. It permits you to import objects from Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 but not from older versions. Theseconditions also apply when the 9.0.1 and 8.6.2 plug-ins are installed concurrently.

The following components and objects are not compatible with the Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Integration Plug-in:

¨ The Informatica Data Quality 8.6.1 Integration Plug-in or earlier Integration plug-ins.

¨ Mapplets or mappings that contain objects created in Informatica Data Quality 8.5.

Concurrent Installations of the Integration Plug-in 3

C H A P T E R 2

Reference Data RequirementsThis chapter includes the following topics:

¨ Reference Data Overview, 7

¨ Reference Dictionary Requirements, 8

¨ Address Reference Data Requirements, 8

¨ Identity Population Data Requirements, 9

Reference Data OverviewIf the objects you import to the PowerCenter repository read reference data, you must install the reference data onthe PowerCenter Integration Service machine. Use the Data Quality 9.0.1 Content Installer to install referencedata.

Data quality transformations can use the following types of reference data:

Reference dictionary files

Text files that contain the standard or correct versions of general business terms and common variations onthese terms. You can edit dictionary files.

Address reference data files

Data files that contain the correct versions of all postal addresses for a country. You cannot edit addressreference data files.

Identity population files

Data files that define different types of identity and that contain algorithms used by Match transformationstrategies. You cannot edit population files.

The Data Quality 9.0.1 Content Installer and the reference dictionary files are part of the Informatica Data Quality9.0.1 installation file set. The Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 installation file set does not contain address referencedata or identity population files. Purchase address reference data and identity population files separately fromInformatica.

For more information about the Data Quality Content Installer, see the Informatica Content Installation Guide.

7

Reference Dictionary RequirementsThe Data Quality 9.0.1 Content Installer file set contains reference dictionary files.

When you run the Content Installer on an Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Server machine, it writes the referencedictionary data to tables in the Model repository and staging area. You select the reference tables you need whenyou configure a data quality transformation.

When you run the Content Installer on a PowerCenter Integration Service machine, it writes the referencedictionary data to files in the PowerCenter directory structure. PowerCenter reads a dictionary file when you run aworkflow that contains a data quality object configured with that file.

The reference data file locations in the PowerCenter directory structure must corresponds to the reference tablelocations in the Model repository structure. The directory structure must follow this format:

<PowerCenter_Root_Directory>\services\<Model_Repository_Project_Name>\<Model_Repository_Project_Folder_Name>

You identify the root directory when you run the Data Quality Content Installer. The Installer appends the followingpath to the root:

\services\DQContent\INFA_Content\

If this path does not match the Model repository structure, edit the path or copy the directory files to the requiredpath.

Exporting Reference Tables from the Model RepositoryWhen you export an object that reads reference tables from the Model Repository, you can export the referencetable data associated with the object as one or more dictionary files. Export reference data as dictionary files if youedited the Informatica reference table data or created custom reference tables for the objects you export.

Export the files in one of the following ways:

¨ Export the files to a location that the PowerCenter Integration Service can access, such as the PowerCenterdirectory structure. Verify that Informatica 9.0.1 has permission to write to the directory and that thePowerCenter Integration Service has permission to read from the directory.

¨ Export the files to another location and copy them to a location that the PowerCenter Integration Service canaccess.

In each case, you must verify that the PowerCenter Integration Service reads the dictionary files from a path thatcorresponds to the reference table location in the Model repository. The Developer tool prompts you for the path towhich to export the reference table data.

Note: You can also use the infacmd rtm export option to export the files from the Model repository.

Address Reference Data RequirementsUse the Data Quality 9.0.1 Content Installer to install the address reference data read by the mapplets andmappings you export from the Model repository. Run the Server Content Installer on the PowerCenter IntegrationService machine.

The Data Quality 9.0.1 Content Installer creates an /av/ directory in the PowerCenter directory structure and writesaddress reference data to that location. The PowerCenter Integration Service reads the path to the addressreference data from the AD50.cfg configuration file.

8 Chapter 3: Reference Data Requirements

The Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Integration Server Plug-in installer adds this file to the PowerCenter 8.6 and 8.6.1 directory structure. The PowerCenter 9.0 and 9.0.1 installers add this file to the PowerCenter 9.0 and 9.0.1directory structure.

When you install address reference data for mapplets and mappings created in Informatica 9.0, you must verifythat the following properties are set in AD50.cfg:

Reference Data Location

Defines the path to the address reference data. Edit this property to point to the installed data.

LicenseKey

License information for the address reference data associated with the objects imported from the Modelrepository. Paste the current license string to this property.

You can optionally edit other properties in AD50.cfg.

Note: Informatica Data Quality 9.0 and 9.0.1 do not read the AD50.cfg file. Informatica Data Quality 9.0 and 9.0.1users enter the reference data location and license key information through the Administrator tool.

Installing Reference Data for Multiple Plug-in VersionsIf you have installed the Informatica Data Quality 9.0.1 Integration Plug-in on a PowerCenter Integration Servicemachine where an older Integration plug-in is installed, your PowerCenter directory structure may contain anAD.cfg file. Do not update this file with the information you add to AD50.cfg. You install and manage addressreference data and license keys separately for each plug-in.

Identity Population Data RequirementsUse the Data Quality 9.0.1 Content Installer to install identity population files you purchase from Informatica. Runthe Server Content Installer on the PowerCenter Integration Service machine.

The Content Installer creates an /identity/ directory in the PowerCenter directory structure and writes populationfiles to this directory.

The PowerCenter Integration Service reads the location of installed population files from the SSAPR environmentvariable. Verify that this variable is set to the /identity/ directory . The variable path cannot contain spaces.
