THE BLESSED ASSURANCE

We have all heard this Hymn written by Fannie Crosby, a Methodist rescue mission worker, who was blind from infancy. But… What is this blessed assurance that

Fannie Crosby is so assured of? What are the assurances of God? How do we receive this blessed

assurance?Does this assurance have anything to

do with my faith?

Assurance is confidence, trust, full conviction, firmness of mind. Knowing what you know! As believers, the basis of our assurance is Jesus Christ.

One thing for sure…Faith in God is not born out of good times.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more

exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are

seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not

seen are eternal.”II Corinthians 4:17-18

Dr. Tony Evans says: “The trial you are facing is not happening TO you—it is happening FOR you.”

He goes on to say: “Let God use it for your good and His glory!”

Knowing this, (be assured) that the trying

It is so important for us to realize…if God allows It there is purpose in It.

We may not fully understand It; but God knows the path that will draw us closer to Him.

Jesus said… “The thief (Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that

they might have it more abundantly (overflow).”

John 10:10

But as believers in Jesus Christ, we have the Blessed Assurance and we have the promises of God.

We have the assurance of an abundant life, the assurance of peace, the assurance of joy, and the assurance of hope on this side of the Cross.

But more importantly, we have the assurance of Eternal Life with Christ on the other side of the Cross.

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are yes in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the

glory of God.” II Corinthians 1:20

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh

to God must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of them

that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Ladies our foundation for eternal living must be built upon the Blessed Assurance which is in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, we have the Blessed Assurance that Fannie Crosby wrote about. The Blessed Assurance that is only found in Jesus Christ.

Think about this… What if you believed with all your heart

that God is with you? What if you believed without a doubt that

the Lord would not withhold no good thing from you if you walk uprightly before Him?

How would today go if you believed without a doubt that God is in control of all things?

Truly believing that God will do exactly what He promises leads to an abundant life.

God is saying cast your cares upon Me for I am your Blessed Assurance.

Be still and know that I am God… Let not your heart be troubled… Abide in me…for without me you can

do nothing… Come unto me all you that are heavy

burdened and I will give you rest… I will keep you in perfect peace… I will meet you at your point of need… I will never leave you nor forsake you…

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the

Serenity calm, peace, quiet

To accept the things I cannot change.

The Courage brave, confident, heroic

Wisdom discernment, insight, understanding

To know the difference.

When we speak these words, we are first acknowledging God’s existence and recognizing that He is the only one who can bring us inner peace regardless of our external circumstances.

The presence of God in our lives brings us a “serenity” or peace that can be found nowhere else.

In the Serenity Prayer, we typically focus on Serenity, Courage and Wisdom.

But…what does it mean to Accept, Change and Know?

Accept…whatever God allows.

Change…our attitude toward the situation and take action.

Know…that God is always in control.
