The font that we have chosen to use is clean, clinical and also sans serif font – which means it has no curls/swirls. By using this it is very Precise, bold and symmetrical. A Bio film that has used a similar front as ours is ‘Contagion’ and additional to this a Bio-Thriller book ‘Blind-Side’ has also used this strict heading. In addition to this the colour of the font relates to the mass use of white in our shots of the medical equipment, clean and precise.

A thriller centered on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak

These are some additional images of our title that begins to cut out and jump in various editing ways, for example ‘the bad TV’ effect and ‘distortion’.We were inspired by the opening sequence taken from ‘Se7en’ which involves a variety of transitions and cuts. These affects reflect the brokeness and fractured meaning on our film.

Like I previously said when speaking about the font colour, some of the shots included a flash of white. This was also emphasized by the contrast of the opposing dark scenes which highlighted the message of this being a medical shot. We were majorly influenced by a variety of hospital soaps like ‘HOLBY City’ and ‘Causualty’ as these are both set on hosiptal environment. Additional to this, not only this shot but the majority of our filming was influenced by the TV program ‘Walking Dead’ which is in fact based on an epidemic itself.

As I mentioned previously the majority of our shots were a lot darker, as a result of low key lighting and effects added whilst editing. Our intension was to create a mysterious and unknowing atmosphere so that the audience would feel uncomfortable and also feel the tension. Like how we felt when we watched ‘The Walking Dead’ and films such as ‘The Stepfather’ and the majority of thrilling films.

Our shot of the wrapped-up bodies was long and dark which to the viewer feels like it is drawn out for a long length of time, as inspired y the walking dead hospital scenes.

The editing of our opening sequence technique is thoroughly influenced by the film ‘Se7en’ in the way in which shots and titles are put together. We’ve included a variety of long shots and then quick cuts of flashing, sharp images and headings to create not only an element of confusedness maybe, but many to make the audience beg the question as to what is going on and why. This therefore makes the viewer want to continue watching.

This was the feeling that we got when we were watching the films ‘Se7en’ and ‘The Stepfather. This was how we intended our viewers to feel when they watched our thriller opening, and we did this by including many still images and introductory headings. The contrast between the long camera shots that we filmed (inspired mainly by the film ‘The Stepfather’) and the quick still images (like in ‘Se7en’) emphasized one another and acted as binary opposites.

Many of the still images and shots that we used were manipulated by the adding of different affects to create the right impression, this being the element of darkness and discomfort.

Some examples of the obvious affects that we used would be the smashed glass overlay on many of the headings, also the smoke affects that we made red that come across in various ways. A similar idea used in the film ‘Dawn of the Dead’ .

Another affect that we used on the images was ’The Bad TV’ effect and ‘White noise’. Again this helped to break up the different shot types and create an uneasy tension for the viewers.

This idea was again taken from the film ‘Se7en’
