“All I knew growing up was that my
father was married to and loved my
momma, period. He worked hard,
made some money, and put it on the
dresser. She spent it on the family, and
he went out and earned some more.
He taught me the most about love.”
Steve Harvey

to love their mother.”

NLI Team takes Prayer Pilgrimage to Historic Jamestown on National Prayer Day!
On National Prayer Day, Thursday, May 2nd, members of the Ebenezer Next Level Innova-tion Team (NLI) and guests traveled to historic Jamestown for a private Archaeology and early historic background walking tour at Jamestown National Park surrounding the grounds of James Fort and Jamestown Church. The church is one of the oldest surviving building remnants built by Europeans in the original 13 colonies and in the U.S. overall. Following the tour we prayed our breakthrough prayer for Ebenezer Church and our nation on the banks of the James River at the site where Captain John Smith reported the first church services were held outdoors “under an awning (which was an old saile)” fastened to three or four trees. Shortly, thereafter, the settlers built the first church inside the fort in 1607. It was interesting to see archaeologists at work on the grounds and tour the in-side of the church. Our tour guide was the son of a United Methodist Pastor and his tour highlighted the role Jamestown played in the growth of the Judeo-Christian faith in America. Katherine and Dennis Pearson are pictured standing where America’s first celebrity wed-ding vows were exchanged between Pocahontas and John Rolfe in 1614. We encourage everyone to seek creative places to pray the breakthrough prayer and share your experience with us through pictures and texts by contacting Cheryl Lee ([email protected]) or Chris Keltner ([email protected]).

Real Discipleship
Survey June 9th—July 7th
Continuing with Ebenezer’s self-study process we will be taking a survey designed to support
the development of maturing disciples at both the personal and congregational levels.
The Real Discipleship Survey will measure the level of maturity in each of six dimensions of
discipleship: A Life of Worship, A Life of Hospitality, A Life Opening to Jesus, A Life Obeying
Jesus, A Life of Service and A Life of Generosity.
At the personal level, each participant receives a report indicating the level of maturity, possi-
ble next steps for growth, and suggested resources for personal development.
It also provides the church an invaluable resource for discipleship teams in planning for the
support of an intentional discipleship process.

We are all amateurs who love learning how to do new things! Not all projects will be for all people, but the main theme is always FELLOWSHIP! Since June is such a busy month with school ending, graduation and just life in general, we are going to take a break in June. Then on Tuesday, July 9 (6-8pm) we have a really cute and easy craft we’ll do using a scalloped paver stone. Look for more information and sign-up sheets in the weekly bulletins towards the end of June. As always, if you have a craft you would like to share, please let Sheila or Athena know. [[email protected] or [email protected].]
Unless you’re a pluviophile (someone who loves rain), a stretch of sunshine-free days can seem drab and dreary. To make South Korea’s long monsoon season more colorful, art students created murals on some Seoul sidewalks with hydrochromic paint. It’s invisible on dry surfaces, but as soon as water hits, vibrant images appear. Rain transforms gray pavement into bright scenes of fish, whales and turtles. Life’s storms, whether literal or figurative, can dampen our enthusiasm and even challenge our faith. Yet adversity often reveals God’s true colors — and ours. No matter what clouds pass overhead, God remains perfect, loving and steadfast. And by praising God “rain or shine,” we, as his artwork, reveal that our Creator and his every brushstroke are trustworthy. Author unknown
