We have made friends with visiting Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from Bangladesh, an Ambassadorial Scholar, and a Rotaract District 9920 Governor, all while busy with our careers, impeding finals, family obligations and unceasing social demands. Speaking of service, check out the flyers both for Habitat For Hu- manity and Relay for Life - our staple summer event. For those who couldn't make it to a Conference, here's a brief sum- mary: the resort was exquisite, food was great, we danced up a storm, speeches were moving, awards were met with thunderous applause, projects were touching. A special place in my memories is held by Governor's Ball if not for all the dancing to a live music and an after party than surely for seeing a Senior Assistant Governor of Youth Services Jaimee Sul kissing a 7-foot snake as a part of Rota- ract fundraiser. Both things are likely to be remembered by everyone, which may be unfortunate for me, since I will have to work with Jaimee for the rest of the year and she know for a fact who is responsible for her intimate moment with the python. And as far as World Rotaract Pre-convention goes, article from Rotary International web page , quoting District 5280 Rotaractor Cheryl Wong will give you a glimpse of service project that was a part of it. With all the above in mind it will be hard to one-up May, but we will still try. For starters we've got a District Assembly - one of the most important information and training events in Rotary year on Sun- day June 11. It is mandatory for all incoming club officers and recommended for everybody who wants to learn about Rotary and Rotaract, meet incoming officers and establish oh-so-important personal con- nections with both Rotarians and Rotaractors alike. Please see flyers below for details and registration. And lastly, I would like to personally invite you, your Rotaract club, sponsoring Rotarians, and your loved ones to our year-end event - Ciao Dinner . Besides the dinner at one of the great restaurants in the area , we will be awarding Rotaract clubs and individual Rotaractors for outstanding service and other achievements, swearing in a new District board and recalling all the great things that we (sometimes to our own surprise) accomplished through this year. I would like to wish luck college based-clubs on their finals and wish everybody more sunny days, fellowship and fulfilling service. Governor’s Message By Rotaract Governor Sergei Belokonnyi

Dear Rotaractors, And so goes one of the busiest months in a Rotary year - May. First

it was a District Conference in Palm Springs, then in the following week World Rotaract Pre-Convention in New Orleans, and all that not even counting social and service events our clubs undertook in May. We have made friends with visiting Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from Bangladesh, an Ambassadorial Scholar, and a Rotaract District 9920 Governor, all while busy with our careers, impeding finals, family obligations and unceasing social demands. Speaking of service, check out the flyers both for Habitat For Hu-manity and Relay for Life - our staple summer event.

For those who couldn't make it to a Conference, here's a brief sum-mary: the resort was exquisite, food was great, we danced up a storm, speeches were moving, awards were met with thunderous applause, projects were touching. A special place in my memories is held by Governor's Ball if not for all the dancing to a live music and an after party than surely for seeing a Senior Assistant Governor of Youth Services Jaimee Sul kissing a 7-foot snake as a part of Rota-ract fundraiser. Both things are likely to be remembered by everyone, which may be unfortunate for me, since I will have to work with Jaimee for the rest of the year and she know for a fact who is responsible

for her intimate moment with the python. And as far as World Rotaract Pre-convention goes, article from Rotary International web page, quoting District 5280 Rotaractor Cheryl Wong will give you a glimpse of service project that was a part of it. With all the above in mind it will be hard to one-up May, but we will still try. For starters we've got a District Assembly - one of the most important information and training events in Rotary year on Sun-day June 11. It is mandatory for all incoming club officers and recommended for everybody who wants to learn about Rotary and Rotaract, meet incoming officers and establish oh-so-important personal con-nections with both Rotarians and Rotaractors alike. Please see flyers below for details and registration.

And lastly, I would like to personally invite you, your Rotaract club, sponsoring Rotarians, and your loved ones to our year-end event - Ciao Dinner. Besides the dinner at one of the great restaurants in the area, we will be awarding Rotaract clubs and individual Rotaractors for outstanding service and other achievements, swearing in a new District board and recalling all the great things that we (sometimes to our own surprise) accomplished through this year. I would like to wish luck college based-clubs on their

Rotary International Convention & Habitat for Humanity Build

At the 2011 Rotary International Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana District 5280 Rotaractor Cheryl Wong participated in a Habitat for Humanity build with 12 other Rotaractors and Rotarians from three different countries. Their work was fea-tured on the Rotary International website, rotary.org and Cheryl is even quoted. Way to go Cheryl - one of our district 5280’s greatest ambassadors!

Also, featured in New Orleans was the first ever Rotaract

Council. The council, modeled after the RI Council of Legislation, allowed

Rotaractors registered for and attending the Preconvention to

consider and vote on non-binding resolutions to change

the Rotaract program submitted by certified

Rotaract clubs worldwide. It was a unique opportunity for Rotaractors to express their

voice directly to the leadership of Rotary

International and generate creative ideas to make their clubs stronger, dynamic, and

more effective.

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to

30.

Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by

a local Rotary club. This makes them true "partners in service" and key members of

the family of Rotary.

As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with

more than 7,000 clubs in about 163 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract

has become a worldwide phenomenon.

Through the Rotaract program, young adults not only augment their knowledge

and skills, but they also address the physical and social needs of their communities

while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of

friendship and service.

Membership starts with you!

Invite friends, family, and co-workers to become members of your Rotaract club.
