Northern Rock FoundationNorthern Rock Foundation has updated their website and it now contains the following information:“Our first important message is to organisations that already have grants and those that receive them in the future. Because of the way we account for our finances, you can be absolutely assured that we have funds set aside to meet all our outstanding commitments. Grants awarded over several years will be paid as planned.Second, the Trustees have agreed their work programme for 2008. They have decided to set an initial total grants budget of £7 million. They have chosen to devote this to continuing three of our programmes: o Safety and Justice;o Building Positive Lives and o Independence and Choice. Within these programmes, we will continue our policy of funding fewer better grants, and engaging with applicants and grant-holders to help them maximise their effectiveness. And we will carry on making grants for work across the North East and Cumbria. We are not making any changes to the guidance for these programmes, or to our application process. If your work fits within one of these three programmes, you can apply now in the normal way. All you will need is on this website.

The Trustees will make their final grants at their December 2007 meeting under the other programmes:o Money and Jobs;o Strong and Healthy Communities;o Culture and Heritage and o Better BuildingsWe will not be taking forward any more pending applications under the programmes we are closing. At £7m our investment for 2008 will still be one of the bigger grant-making budgets in the country and means we will be one of the biggest funders of the voluntary sector in the region. Finally, the Foundation’s Trustees and staff wish to thank everyone who has been so supportive to us and to the bank over the past difficult months. We have been moved and delighted by the messages sent and by the spontaneous support offered.”

The best way to keep informed is to check the website regularly.

Help with press coverage from Lloyds TSB Foundation

Securing press coverage might not be a priority for small voluntary organisations with limited resources, but most would like to have it.
