Year 5 B started brilliant achievements in February

Year 5B were excited participating in the clean-up Australia day

Year 5B boys and girls experienced the formation of the algae and the living things. They observed closely how the coloured water is absorbed through the stem and the leaves using the celery.

Musa Kamara received the student of the month award from Sergeant Jim Bellos.

There were bright, sparkling colours and lovely cultural food on Harmony day. Year 5A & 5B shared a play on the stage called”Thank You’ Information day was another successful day where parents attended the presentation of the year 5 curriculum presented for 2015 in year 5A classroom. The Courier Mail visited our classroom also by supplying daily newspapers and developed our reading skills and knowledge. During rainy days, we enjoyed playing “monopoly” and “snakes and ladders”

Year 5A & 5B went together to “Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum” where students were exposed to the first ways of life in Australia after the arrivals of the convicts to Australia- the school house, the general store, the Carrol house, the post office, the Coomera lockup, the Radke Cottage, the council chambers, the Anglican church and the Hester’s dairy. Students visited the saw shed where they experienced the cut of a piece of wood from an old tree. They checked the Blacksmiths, the machinery shed and they had a ride on the fire truck too.

AIIC Choir or the Nasheed group is attracting more students to be members of the group. Every Monday morning at the joined assembly, AIIC choir presents the Australian National Anthem. They sang “Forgotten promises” by Sami Yusuf, on Harmony day’s ceremony on the stage of AIIC. It was a lovely cheering up from all students who enjoyed the song very much.

On Thursday 9th April 2015, AIIC celebrated the ground-breaking of the prep classes and the library new building where it was the pleasure of the AIIC Choir to present the Australian National Anthem.

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Barakatuhu We have had a great start to Term 2 in Year 1 C. We began the term with the Annual Quran Recitation Competition. Seven of the children (Maimoona, Ayesha, Rahida, Varlee, Ali, Saeed and Abdul-Jabbar) in our class were chosen to take part. The children who received awards in Year 1 C were Maimoona for first place, Ayesha for second place and Rahida received third place.

The AFL Auskick program has commenced at our school on Tuesday afternoons. The Year 1’s were able to participate in an introductory lesson. We enjoyed learning new skills such as knowing how to hold and pass a football, sharing and turn taking.

The RACQ Streets Ahead program visited our school. The children learnt how to cross a road by the pedestrian crossing and about road safety in a car through various hands on activities.

The Year 1 and Year 6 classrooms have started a Buddy reading program. This program allows the children to read and learn from their peers as well as fostering a positive relationship between them.

The Prep and Year 1 went on an excursion to the Darra Masjid. It was a very special and memorable experience for the children. They had an opportunity to ask questions about the features of a Masjid as well as make Wudhu and Sunnah salat.
