Mr. Nemes is the father of CBA student Chris Nemes. Congratulations! CBA student, Thomas Sible, third from left, whose team won the 13th annual UDM Ethics Bowl in November. This marks the third year in a row that a CBA student was on the winning team. Congratulations to CBA alumna Emma Arendoski, ‘09, who recently published a book entitled The Handcraft- ed Wedding. The Undergraduate Student Advisory Board is planning a trip to Chicago on April 4th and 5th, to visit the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the Chicago Board Options Exchange, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Graduate Certificate Programs are now Gainful Employment Programs! The U.S. Department of Education recently identified our graduate certificate program in Ethical Leadership &

Change Management and the graduate certificate program in Finance as programs that lead to gainful employment.

Students pursuing these certificates, as well as students in our Business Turnaround Management certificate

program, are eligible to apply for federal financial aid. The Finance certificate is offered both on campus and at the

WCCCD University Center in Harper Woods. The BTM certificate is offered online.

of Business Administration will provide guest lectures in many CBA courses. The

Keynote Event will be a panel discussion on the value of diversity to business on Tuesday, March 19, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the Fountain Lounge. The

Moderator will be Dr. Marilyn French Hubbard, founder of the Association for Black

Women Entrepreneurs and former Vice President/Chief Diversity Officer of the

Henry Ford Health System. The panelists will include Ina Fernandes, Managing

Director of Liberty Capital, Jean-Paul Meutchecho, Sustainability Director at Global

Advanced Metals, and Feras Shammami, Vice President of JP Morgan Chase Bank.

GSAB members at Monthly Networking Event/Year-End

Holiday Party at O’Grady’s in Ferndale

GSAB Partners with the

Covenant House of Michigan

This holiday season, the Graduate Student Advisory

Board (GSAB) partnered with the Covenant House

Michigan (CHM) in its mission of hope, ensuring the

kids receive the love and support they deserve as they

continue their journeys toward positive and

productive lives. GSAB members invited the entire

University community to join them by contributing to

this worthy cause. On Saturday, December 15, members

of GSAB and the UDM women's track and field team

delivered the items to the Covenant House of Michigan,

located at 2959 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Detroit,

MI 48208, so the CHM could start to prepare the

residents' Christmas gifts. Lillian V.L. Alexander, CHM

Volunteer Coordinator, was appreciative of the efforts

and contributions of the UDM MBA students.

· Classes will begin on Monday, August 26 (before Labor Day Weekend ) · A new two-day fall break on Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15 · Wednesday before Thanksgiving there will be no classes scheduled · Final Exams will begin on Tuesday, December 10 and end on Monday, December 16

Wheeler stated, “Watching the first African American president as he was being sworn in for a second term was not only

monumental as an African American man but, it was one of the most humbling and celebrated moments in my life”. Wheeler

continued, “President Obama’s vision and mission to create, deliver and sustain educational excellence; serve and protect our

communities and promote ethical and social growth mirrors the UDM mission statement”. Wheeler plans to share his

experiences with students at UDM in hopes of encouraging more political involvement and community engagement.
