An impressive array of fine dining establishments are to be found in Belgravia. The walls of Motcombs bar and restaurant are adorned with impressionist and modern art, while The Nahm in The Halkin hotel is the first Michelin starred Thai restaurant in Europe. Owned by Henry VIII in 1536, Ebury Square became a place that the king would often visit.

Overlooking the leafy expanse of the garden square, the development will take into account the existing streetscape. The square will be re-landscaped and re-planted, with picturesque gravel walkways and featuring a fountain centrepiece.


The architecture of Ebury Square is designed to embrace the character of the local surroundings, including the garden square itself. The entrances at ground level are marked by projecting canopies supported on columns, whilst the light stone provides a similar effect to the grander buildings around the principal squares in Belgravia.

Ebury Square master designer Martin Goddard is a perfectionist – an artist, a craftsman and a passionate believer in the importance of the best possible interior design as a key element in the overall success of a building. “Executed well, it provides the fundamental quality that makes rooms, lobbies, even lifts, work in harmony. At Ebury Square I have emphasised the proportion and scale of the spaces bringing the elements of traditional Belgravia vertical townhouse living to these large, horizontally imposing apartments.”

The challenge, he feels, is to provide a canvas for the eventual owner without limiting their own eventual creativity. “The perspectives and the symmetry of the large living areas will be retained and balanced by central chimney breasts, oversized doors, solid wood panelling and squared rather than herringbone parquet flooring. Master bedrooms will be luxurious yet understated, with bathrooms conveying a real sense of glamour and dressing rooms a keen sense of discovery.”

I go directly to the supplier and visit the quarries personally to select each individual piece. I am also passionate about joinery; I visit workshops on a weekly basis to ensure that our high levels of craftsmanship are being maintained.”
