Samuel Ronald Malble, who served in the India-Burma thea­tre of operations with the Army during World War II, djed the evening of March 20 at Peninsula General Hospital after an illness of some Urns.

He resided at 22-16 New Haven avenue, Far Rockaway.

Born in New York on June 21, 1910, he was the son of Louis and Celia Zimmer Molbegott. He lived in Nsw York until five years ago when he came to the Far Rockaway community.

A drug pricer, Mr. Malble was a member of the Knights of Pyt­hias and of a Jewish War Vet­erans Post

He is survived by his widow, Frieda (nee Oranow); two daugh­ters, Linda and Ellen, the latter was 16 oh March 23; two broth­ers, Benjamin Malbe of River-dale and Zlsh Malbe of White-stone; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Morse and Mrs. Pearl Asarch. both of Brooklyn, and Mrs, Rose Littman of Philadel­phia.

Rabbi Arthur David of Temple Beth Emet, Hewlett, officiated at the funeral service the morning Of March 22 in Far Rockaway. Interment followed in Beth Is­rael pemetery, Woodbridge, N. J.

dent of the Bronx and Brooklyn, who came to the Rockaways three years ago, died shortly af­ter midnight March 20 at St. Jo seph's Hospital, Far Rockaway. . A resident of 8414 Rockaway Beach boulevard, Mr. Schwartz was born in Manhattan on July iO, 1896, the son of Nlssen and Esther Schwartz.

He was a member of the Ham-mel Senior Citizen's group since coming to Rockaway Beach.

He is survived by his widow, Ida (nee Gordon); two sons, Ber­nard of Brooklyn, and Jerry of Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Her­bert Kirsch of Arveme; three brothers, Al and Sam SchwarU of Belle Harbor and Izzie Sch­wartz of Jamaica, L. I.; a sister, Mrs. Claire Harris of California, and five grandchildren.

>bert Holzman, an executive for a trimming firm, and a vet­eran of World War U, died the evening of March 20 at S t Jos­eph's Hospital, Far Rockaway.

Mr. Holzman, who lived in Brooklyn before coming to Far Rockaway 14 years ago, resided at 20-53 Seagirt boulevard.

He served in the European Theatre of operations with the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was born in New York on July 23, 1920, the son of Mrs. Mary Holzman of the Bronx.

He is survived by his widow, Mlml (nee Ross); two sons, l4Wis Arnold and Andrew Scott; his mother, and a "brother, Arth­ur Holzman. . .

Jphn J. Baldwin, plumber who made with his sister, Mm. William Doscher of Rockaway Park, died Sunday morning at the residence, 234 Beach 120th street following a brief illness.

Mr. Baldwin, who came to the Rockaways in 1930, was born in New York November 17, 1892, the son of John and Catherine Walsh Baldwin. His wife, May Baldwin, died in 1931.

He is survived by a brother, Joseph Baldwin of New York, and his sister, Mrs. Doscher. He was the brother of Mrs. Mary Well who died in I960, Mrs. He­len Pace who died In 1961 and Mrs. Nora Dunn who died in 1963.

A solemn high mass was of­fered yesterday morning in St. Francis de Sales R. C. Church, Belle Harbor. Interment follow­ed in the family plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y., under the direction of the Fran­cis E. Bennett Funeral Home, 198 Beach 114th street, Rocka­way Park.

Mrs. Alexander Strasser, a resident of the Inwood section of Long Island for 50 years, died at her home, 440 Bayview ave­nue, Saturday noon.

Mrs. Strasser was born at Prague, Bohemia, on May 10, 1883.

She Is survived by her hus­band, Alexander Strasser; two sons, Albert A. of Lynbrook and William A. of Great River, L. I.; two daughters, Mrs. Adolph Joyce of Inwood and Mrs. Roger Pearsall of Hawaii, a grandchild and three great grandchildren.

The Rev. Charles R, Supln of St. John's Episcopal Church, Far Rockaway, officiated at the fun­eral service Tuesday morning in Inwood. Cremation followed in Fresh Pond Crematorium, Mid­dle ViUage, L. I.

Charles J. Gallagher, a former Rockaway resident and a retired New York City patrolman who at the time of his retirement some years ago was assigned to the 100th Precinct at Rockaway Beach, died Saturday morning at his residence, 76 Horton street, Malverne, L. I.

Born in New York City on June 1, 1900, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gallagher, who had been residents of the Rockaways, he was an alumnus of Public School 44 at Beach 94th street.

He was member of the New Yolk City Police Department for more than 20 years at the time of his retirement.

He is survived by Ave sisters, Mrs. Charles Farrell of Belle Harbor, Mrs. Mary Conroy, Mrs. James Daly, Mrs. Charles Deyhle and Miss Lillian Gallagher, all of Malverne, L. I. The deceased made his home with the latter sister.

He was the brother of Edward Gallagher of Neponsit, also a re­tired New York City patrolman, who died December 31, 1965.

A solemn requiem high mass was offered Monday morning In Our Lady of Lourdes R. C. Church, Malverne. Interment fol­lowed in the famllv plot in Cal­vary Cemetery, Long Island City, under the direction of the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Inc., 9105 Beach Channel drive.

Mrs. Abe Rost Active In Many Groups

Mrs. Abe Rostolder of 449 Beach 66th street, Arverne, known for her many charitable deeds over the years, died Thurs­day evening at her residence, af­ter a long Illness.

She was the former Henrietta Gottlieb, born in New York City February 16, 1901. She was a resident of Arverne for more than 35 years.

During the years she resided in the community, she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Congregation Cness-es Israel, Arverne, serving as Its secretary for 25 years and as publicity chairman. She was a member of the Ladles Auxiliary of Arverne Post 57, Jewish War Veterans, and served as secre­tary for close to 20 years. She was a member of the Daniel M. OConnell Unit 272, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Ar­verne Auxiliary of Peninsula General Hospital.

She was a contributor to the Rabbinical Seminary and Ye-shiva, both locally and In the city.

She is survived by her hus­band, Abe Rostolder; two sons, Henry of Hicksvllle and Marvin of the Beach 66th street address; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Kaplan and Mrs. Allen Levlnson, both of Arverne; a sister, Miss Ruth Gottlieb of New York, and Six grandchildren.

Mi*s. Shine lived in New York before coming to the Rockaways 20 years ago. Her husband Is deceased.

She is survived by two sons, the Rev. Raymond Shine, chap­lain in the Navy, assigned to the aircraft carrier Forrestal, and John M. Shine of Little Fer­ry, N. J.: five daughters, Mrs. Virginia Mulvey, the Misses Anne and Betty Shine, all of Rockaway Beaoh, Mrs. Frederick Fischer of Stewart Manor, L. Mrs. Schappert was a member of the Ladies Society of Penin­sula General Hospital; the Ladies Aid Society of the First Congre­gational Churoh; the Ladies Auxiliary of Rockaway Aerie 1544, Fraternal Order of Eagles; the Ladles Auxiliary of the Vet­eran Firemen's Association of the Fifth Ward, and the Friendship Club, a social group.

She is survived by a nephew, William Loughran of Neponsit, and a niece, Mrs. Helen Shields of Glen Head, L. I.

Louis Rosenberg, insurance agent, resident of the Rockaways for 22 years, died at his resi­dence, 2 Beach 32nd street, Edge-iere, early the morning of March 18.

He was born in Brooklyn on June 22, 1909, the son of Joseph nul Minnie Rosenberg.

Mr. Rosenberg, who was hon->red last year at a breakfast in

recognition of his dedicated ser­vices on behalf of United Jewish Appeal, was first vice-president >f Congregation Shaare Zedek,

Edgemere. He was also a member of Peninsula Lodge 614, Knight of Pythias.

He is survived by his widow, Julia (nee Korotkin), who Is a vice-president of the Sisterhood of Congregation Shaare Zedek; two sons, Joseph Allen and Rich­ard Steven, both of the Edgemere address; a brother, Sol Rosenberg of Cedarhurst, and a sister, Mrs. Howard Woocher, wife of Dr. Woocher, dentist, who resides in Malverne.

Woman Driver Injured

In Collision With Bus A woman motorist was taken

to St. Joseph's Hospital suffering with head and body injuries re­ceived when her car and a Ja­maica bus collided last Thurs­day morning at Ooeanerest boul­evard and Beach 25th street, Far Rockaway.

According to police, she was Mrs. Blsa Rosenberg, 52, of 2811 Bayswater avenue, Far Rocka­way.

In memory of the late Irving N. Klein, a past president of the Far Rockaway Exchange Club and a past district governor, the club will present annually a $250 Good Cltisenship award to a se­nior at Far Rockaway High School.

Two Bungalows Are Badly Burned

Fire did considerable damage to two vacant one-story frame bungalows March 23.

They are located at 100B Beach 39th street and 102A Beach 89th street, Edgemere.

Two alarms were sounded — the first at 2:30 a.m.; the second shortly. Battalion Chief John J. Griffith was In charge of the fire­men.
