Aims and Objectives

• To provide specialization and expertise in the fi eld of Pediatric Allergy and Asthma by training prepared minds under guidance of experienced faculty in the fi eld.

• To bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order through didactic lectures, discussions, hands on work in the fi eld so that the trainees are able to attain self-suffi ciency in the fi eld of Pediatric Allergies.

• After successfully completing the course, the trainees should be competent enough to manage, treat and understand all forms of Pediatric allergic disorders, which are causing strain on our pediatric population.

• To provide ambient atmosphere of research and development in the aforesaid fi eld.

DPAA Course information

Scope of the course – DPAA course is a distant learning contact-based program suitable for general practitioners, residents and physicians who deal with allergy patients in their day-to-day practice. This course incorporates interactive sessions on basics and advances of allergy, available tests and management in offi ce practice. The aim of this program is to provide state of the art clinical training in allergy, asthma and related conditions to health care providers. We also aim to initiate quality research in the fi eld of pediatric allergies.

Recognition – DPAA course is recognized by The Ganga Ram Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GRIPMER), an academic arm of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (Delhi, India) and International Asthma Services (Colorado, USA). The course has been endorsed by American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and Center for Global Health, University of Colorado, USA.

Eligibility criteria for applying DPAA course – Following candidates are eligible to apply for DPAA course.

• MD/DNB/Diploma completed in either of the following:• Respiratory or Pulmonary Medicine• General Medicine• General Pediatrics• ENT (Otorhinolaryngology)

• Overseas candidates with equivalent qualifi cation are also eligible for the DPAA course, after recognition by Medical council of India or similar competent Indian authority.

Who will be considered overseas or international candidate? – Candidate holding valid passport of country other than India will be considered as an overseas or international candidate.

Selection criteria – Selection to DPAA course is based on set criterias as described below. The decision of selection committee will be fi nal and binding to everyone and NO request for re-evaluation will be entertained by any candidate. The selection criterias are:

• Complete application including all the necessary documents• Requisite educational qualifi cation for eligibility (as defi ned earlier)• Previous experience in the related fi eld• Research papers, presentation and publications • Awards or honors received• Future aspirations after pursuing the DPAA course

Course curriculum – ‘Diploma in Pediatric Allergy and Asthma’ (DPAA) is a 1-year distance learning program with personal contact sessions every quarterly, starting from January. Each personal contact session (PCS) will be 5-6 days long. Enrolled candidates will be given study material in the fi rst PCS. First three PCS will have morning didactic theory sessions and afternoon practical/demo sessions. Details of each PCS session will be provided to the enrolled candidates prior to each PCS. After each PCS session, candidates will be given pre-defi ned assignments related to course content. They need to complete these assignments and submit it to course director before the next PCS session. Each candidate has to present at least

one journal club/scientifi c dialogue from the latest research in the fi eld of allergy & asthma. There will be a revision session followed by exit exam during the fi nal PCS.

Document verifi cation – During the fi rst PCS, you need to bring the following documents in original for verifi cation. In case of non-availability of originals due to any reason, certifi ed copies (by either Medical Superintendent of a Government hospital or Principal/Head of Department of post-graduation medical college/hospital) may be considered. Documents needs to be verifi ed on the fi rst day of start of the course at the reception desk. No originals or copies are required to be submitted. The documents needed for verifi cation are:

• MBBS degree certifi cate• Post-graduate degree/diploma certifi cate• Current valid Medical council registration certifi cate (Center or State)• Current valid passport (Both original & self-attested copy) – only for international

candidatesDo I need to follow all or part of course curriculum guidelines? - It will be mandatory for all the enrolled candidates to follow the course curriculum guidelines completely, failing which either their candidature may be cancelled or they will be NOT be allowed to appear in the exit exam. Decision by DPAA governing body will be fi nal and binding to all in this regard.

What if I can’t attend one/more of the PCS sessions after enrollment? – Attendance at all three PCS is mandatory for appearing in the fi nal exit exam. If due to certain circumstances, any candidate is unable to attend any PCS, then he/she is supposed to attend same PCS with next year batch to be eligible for appearing in fi nal exit exam (next year after completion of all three PCS).

Can PCS session dates change after their announcement? – All sessions are planned as per availability of faculties, teaching room and other logistics. Once decided, PCS dates will NOT change due to any candidate’s personal request. Dates might change in a rare instance, depending upon the logistics for conducting the sessions. Decision by DPAA governing body will be fi nal and binding to all in this regard.

Exit exam – The exit exam will be conducted during fourth PCS session only. It will consist of both theory and practical evaluation. Minimum 60% marks in both theory and practical will be required (independently) for passing the exit exam. Assignments will have predefi ned weightage in the fi nal exam. The fi nal exam will be evaluated by both Indian & International faculties. Final results of the examination will be sent to the candidates individually and will also be displayed on our website www.pacesgrh.com by December end.

Is there a separate exit exam fee? – There is NO separate exam fee for the candidates enrolled in the same academic year. If a candidate needs to appear for the exit exam in subsequent year/s after enrollment due to any reason (including inability to attend any PCS or clear the exit exam in scheduled time or others), he/she is supposed to submit the LATE EXIT EXAM FEE (30,000/- INR for Indian nationals and 700/- USD for international candidates).

Convocation – Successful candidates will be awarded the certifi cate of the “DIPLOMA IN PEDIATRIC ALLERGY AND ASTHMA” by GRIPMER and IAS during the following year convocation ceremony.

What if someone can’t attend convocation ceremony? – Convocation ceremony is meant for celebrating your hard work and success. It is advisable to attend the convocation, but if due to any reason someone is unable to attend, they will receive their certifi cates by post (at extra cost towards postal charges, which will be communicated to them by DPAA governing body at an appropriate time).

Course Venue – All the PCS sessions will be held at campus of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi – 110060 (INDIA). Enrolled candidates need to arrange their travel, stay, boarding and lodging by their own. DPAA governing body, GRIPMER or IAS will NOT be responsible for any of these issues.

Faculty – Various national and international faculties will be available for teaching and interaction during DPAA course. There will be online sessions from experts across the globe.

Fee structure – The fee covers charges for tuition fee, supplies, exam fees (same academic year), course material, lunch during course days and convocation.

Total course fee (including GST) for Indian candidates (in INR): 1,50,000/-

Total course fee for international candidates (in USD): 3500 USD

Exit Exam fee for same academic year: NIL

Late Exit Exam fee for Indian candidates (in INR): 30,000/-

Late Exit Exam fee for International candidates (in USD) 700 USD

Payment can be made by demand draft or NEFT transfer. Further details will be communicated to enrolled candidates in due course of time.

Fee refund policy – There will be NO refund of any part of fee, after submission, even if the candidate chooses not to join the course or discontinue in between due to any reason. The fee will NOT be transferred to another candidate account, if any candidate wishes to do so. In case of any unusual circumstance, the decision of DPAA governing body will be fi nal and binding to everyone.

Stipend – There will be NO stipend given to the enrolled candidates.

Dispute settlement – The venue of the arbitration will be New Delhi and the Indian laws will be applicable. The Delhi court alone will have the exclusive jurisdiction to adjudication in case of any dispute.

How to apply:

Application forms will be available from our website in March-April each year for subsequent year academic session. Form can be fi lled online (at www.pacesgrh.com) or offl ine (in legible hand-writing). Application form should be submitted latest by 31st July, 05.00 PM (IST) along with supporting documents and application fee.

Rejection of application form:

Forms with incomplete information or missing supporting documents or non-payment of application fee will be immediately rejected and will not be considered for further evaluation or selection. NO applications will be considered after the declared submission deadline.

Selection process:

Applications submitted up till 31st July, 05.00 PM (IST) will be evaluated during the month of August by selection committee. The selection committee may hold an interview of shortlisted candidates, in case of a tie based on selection criteria, in the month of August. The selection will be done at the discretion of the selection committee and the decision shall be binding for everyone. Final list of selected candidates will be displayed on our website www.pacesgrh.com by 20th August 05.00 PM as well as candidates will be individually informed (on their given mail id in the application form). Selected candidates need to accept or reject their candidature latest by 25th August by email, failing which the candidature will be considered cancelled. In case of any rejection/cancellation (at any stage of selection process), candidates from waiting list will be invited to join the course.

Submission of course fee and recruitment for DPAA course:

Once selected candidates accept their candidature, they need to deposit the complete course fee latest by 20th September failing which their candidature will be cancelled. Candidates will be informed about mode of course fee submission after selection.

Session details:

After selection and recruitment process is complete, candidates will be informed about their personal contact session (PCS) details. Study material and PCS session roster will be informed in due course of time. First PCS session usually starts in the month of January every year.
