Visit ibo.org/events for more details This workshop is designed to prepare SL teachers who are keen and interested in improving their understanding of the DP Subject Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS). This mixed category workshop aims to improve the teaching and learning experience in the DP classroom and teach ESS in a manner that supports the IB mission statement and philosophy. Recommended for Participants will get hands on experience in this workshop. Where does this take place? This workshop will take place in an award winning eco-resort ~ Loola Adventure Resort, on Bintan Island, Indonesia (close to Singapore). The facility is built strictly using local materials and staffed by people from Bintan Island itself. Loola Adventure Resort is also known for resource conservation, complete with wastewater gardens, rainwater collection systems and a green air-conditioning system. In addition, recently the government of the Netherlands has awarded a large grant to Loola Adventures for research on an ambitious waste-water project which ultimately aims to bring clean drinking water to all Indonesian villagers. These projects will be available to the participants to see when they are at the resort.
