Travelling through Manitoba means travelling through Treaty 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 Territory, and communities signatory to Treaties 6 and 10, the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anish-Ininiwak, Dakota, Dene, Ininiwak and Nehethowuk and the homeland of the Métis The beauty of winter is evident in Manitoba: all you need to do is get out into nature to witness it. Close your eyes and tune into the quiet sounds of the season, or watch snow dazzle under clear blues skies. While enjoying outdoor winter activities in Manitoba, remember to stay safe by: Keep six feet of physical distance from others Avoid crowds Stay home if you’re sick Show respect to others on the trail and only use trails designated for your activity. It’s best to research ahead of time or observe the signs at the trailhead to find out if your trail is intended for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or if it is mixed-use. In addition, always practice no-trace principles while on the trail — efforts that ensure everyone can enjoy the trails for years to come. We also recommend checking trail conditions ahead of time. Rosedale Farm Trail | Rosedale2.5 km loop

There are two loops to choose from at the Rosedale Farm Trail: one that leads through evergreen and deciduous forest, and another that offers a panoramic rest stop with views of the Manitoba Escarpment.

Brûlé Trail | Riding Mountain National Park2 or 4 km loop

Shaped like a figure eight, this trail has two options depending on how long you want to hike. That being said — the long loop is highly recommended, passing alongside beautiful trees and ending at frozen Lake Kinosao. Snowshoes may make the trail easier to travel along.

The Old Pinawa Dam Walk | Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park1.4 km loop

We often associate stillness and quiet with the dead of winter; but not so at Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park. Take this easy trek and see the crashing waters of the dam fight against snow and ice. There are a number of staircases that can get quite slippery and hard to navigate in the winter, so tread carefully.
